Title: Ultimarc shipping
Post by: deadmoney5 on October 18, 2004, 06:19:45 pm
I wanted to order a T-Stik plus for $24..

They want to charge $12 for DHL shipping for a joystick???

I'm guessing I have no choice though if I want a T-Stik..

Other than that...are they good to deal with?

It's gotta come across the Atlantic.  I think $12 is reasonable for that trip.  Andy has awesome customer service and will do almost anything to keep a customer happy.

It's a two way thing with Ultimarc.
He has a $12.00 MINIMUM for shipping, but he caps it for larger orders.
If you order some more stuff from him, the shipping will be a much smaller percentage of your order.

I also agree that the $12.00 isn't that outrageous for shipping stuff in from the U.K.

ahhhh..

didn't realize it was coming from the UK...

If I only knew all the facts before I post stuff, I wouldn't need to post stuff ;D

I just combined orders with a couple of my friends, so that really helped out.  Instead of paying $12 each for shipping, we all ordered together and ended up paying about $6 each.

10-4 on that one. I bought my IPAC from Ultimarc, and my joys, and buttons from Happs, within the same hour on the same day, and my IPAC got here 1 or 2(cant remember for sure) DAYS before I got my stuff from Happs. So the stuff coming from the UK got here before the stuff from Illinois(????).

It's strange you know.... I live in the UK and my Ultimarc order took about 2 weeks. But please don't think I'm criticising because I'm not. It was a large(ish) order and he may have had to wait for 1 or 2 things to come in. And as you rightly say, Andys customer service is fantastic.

Anyway.... I've ordered stuff from T-Molding.com, Oscar Controls and TheRealBobRoberts (all in the States) and the longest I had to wait from order to receiving goods was just 5 days!!!

Andys definitely on the ball. I've ordered from him 4-5 times now and the goods always arrive quickly and well packed. Can't recommend him highly enough!

i can understand his policy on shipping but i order stuff from teh UK from other sellers.  Items of equal to higher wieght, and the shipping is much less and often free if i spend $50.  But thats a different buisness and can prolly get away with that.

I've only had good experiences with Andy's service - three days from the UK to Australia (the second order took a bit longer, but that was DHL's fault, not his... it arrived Melbourne in about two days, and then they took about five days to do the Melbourne-Adelaide leg). The postgae isn't excessive. Order more stuff and it's evem more reasonable :)

Not exactly on topic, but this reminded me of my shipping experience w/Ultimarc - I live in the suburbs of Chicago, so I expected shipping from the UK would take a little longer than stateside, but when my package didn't show up within 2 weeks, I called the shipping company about it [DHL]... ends up the shipping label got messed up or something, so they decided to route my package to SOUTH AFRICA.  The best part is that I checked the status of the package on their website, and it had gotten all the way to Illinois, within 30 miles of me, THEN got routed to Africa.  And it would've stayed there if I didn't call and give them my info (they knew my contact info - I have no idea why they didn't call me when the label got screwed).  Sorry for the long winded story, and I know this was in no way the fault of Ultimarc (you guys make great stuff!).  This thread just reminded me of the story (I forgot all about it when my package finally arrived and I got to  workin)

I was disappointed that it took a week before my order was shipped but it only took 36 hours for it to get to me in Kansas from the U.K.  $24 for a $500 order to my door in less than 2 days = a great choice in carrier and a great shipping price.

The fact that I had to email 3 times to find out if it was shipped was not that great.  I was told the second time it would ship the next day, turned out to be 3 days later.
