Um, because the UK is our coalition partner, and partners share the work?

Damn it! Wait. I change my answer. Dying is fun and winning sucks. That's what I meant to say.

Absolutely it is. Look at the timing. Major offensive against Falluja starts October 1, that doesn't work, so the US needs backup to put their house in order and get some photo ops for the newsreels pre november 2. You don't have to be a genius to work it out. Theres a mini war going on within Tony Blairs own party where it is quite rightly seen as a blatant attempt to give Bush an election boost.

see following article:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/3752750.stm
"While there is a political dimension to the issue, the US request for British troops to move north in Iraq to take over from US marines is probably more connected to operational problems.
Indeed, the US request is hardly something Mr Bush would want to shout about. It exposes the weakness of US forces in south central Iraq that they have to ask an ally for help.
The British government is going through a two-stage process. The first is to consider the military implications and, if those are resolved, the second will be to consider the political fall-out.
But the request has probably little to do with President Bush wanting allied back-up at this crucial stage of his election campaign...."

well you certainly can't ask the un for help. they don't do diddly squat. heck i read several months ago how the pygmies were being eaten alive by their enemies and asked for help and the un decided they needed to have a whole series of meetings. and probably more empty resolutions followed.

I understand that is also what happened with the Oompa Loompas.

since I take it you live there, what's the consensus amongst your people about your intelligence agencies? Do the British consider the British Intelligence Agencies to be truthful, or do you view them as underfunded fraudulent information gatherers?
Wondering what's the common man's view over there.
