Title: help - I'm a dumbass
Post by: bsoder52 on October 16, 2004, 05:02:33 pm
So I got a new PC and I downloaded MAME, but I can't seem to get it up and running.  Is there anyone here who could help me out today?

Thanks in advance!

if all your trying to do is play the games and have a quick setup, go get mame32, install it into the same folder you have mame, and then exe mame32, you should be done very quickly

I know your problem...you didn't read the documentation. How do I know this? Because you didn't read the forum headings. Case in point...this post belongs in SOFTWARE as it is a question about SOFTWARE.

Now I'll be helpfull. Go to http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/ (http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/) find MAME, click it, and READ.

Good luck and have a nice day!  ;D

Dude, I know this goes against everything in our "guy nature", but you've simply GOT to read the directions.  All anyone is going to do is tell you exactly what they learned from reading the directions.

It seems like I'm coming off harsh, but I've looked...you're constantly asking "can someone help me out".  If you'd spend some time reading FAQ's, readme's, and directions, you'd learn about what's going on, what needs to go on, and how to do it.

Doing all this will spare you from having to post here about how "this has happened, and I can't figure it out", and perhaps being without your system for days or even weeks, or, worst case scenario, having to PAY someone to fix it for you!   :o  That "having to pay to get it fixed" is what prolly motivated TONS of people to learn the information that is easily gleaned from reading.

Do what Spaced told ya, and you should be able to figure it out in no time

Also, everyone here's so friggen nice, you'd have prolly already gotten 50 zillion replies if you'd have explained what your problem is.  Simply stating "I downloaded MAME, but I can't seem to get it up and running. " helps no one.  We don't know what you did that caused it not to run, so we can't help.  It's a lose/lose situation

I have an elderly aunt.  She called me.  "Can you fix my new computer?  I got it and set it up, but it won't work at all".  What was the problem?  She swore up and down on the phone that she did it, but when I got there and PLUGGED IT INTO AN OUTLET ::) it fired up right away i.e. "worked".

Give all the info you can when asking a question, especially the parts of the manual you read that lead you to think you've gotten everything right so far.
