Title: How many coats of primer
Post by: vader on October 15, 2004, 06:14:32 pm
Starting painting my cab today and used Kilz2 for my primer, has a white pigment.  This stuff seems to cover really well.  Should I put to coats on or will one be sufficent ?  I decided not to go exactly by the book when restoring the Missile Command since this will be in my room, I went with high gloss black and whites so it would seem a bit more like furniture.  Any comments appreciated.

I just primed mine as well but it went over a scratched up and sanded black. I am going to end up painting the cab a brilliant blue so I had the girl at the store add some blue to the Kilz base coat so the top coat would cover better. She did it for free. That stuff covers great. 1 coat was enough for me.

Usually 2 is the top, but one should suffice. You should only use a few layers of paint as well.
