Title: Encoder Comparison Pages updated
Post by: Tiger-Heli on October 15, 2004, 09:10:10 am
My Keyboard Encoder comparison pages have been updated at www.mameworld.net/tigerheli/encoder.

Also added additional links at www.mameworld.net/tigerheli

Major changes with this revision - Updated Main page to add coverage for the AKI, KeyWiz Max 1.5, Lupine 64-Key Encoder, MAMI 30, J-PAC, Mini-PAC, I-PAC VE, and X-Arcade Encoder.  Shows the KeyWiz Std and Max and MK64 as discontinued.  Added a simplified explanation to the programmability paragraph. Added a Special Requirements section to the "SDRAM vs. EEPROM" paragraph.  Added links to more technical discussions on the "USB vs. PS/2" paragraph.  Updated the software paragraph to cover the WinIPAC IPD, added a chart of WinIPAC software applicability by model.  Added new recommendations on using/not using encoder software.

Updated the Shift Keys page to include the I-PAC stealth shift keys mode and a general discussion of this mode. http://www.mameworld.net/tigerheli/encoder/shiftkeys.htm

Not all links tested, so let me know if something seems amiss.

you did a great job!  as always, very informative and non-biased.

you could mark the lupine systems encoder as discontinued also just to be thorough ;)

Thanks, I may do that.  For that matter, thanks for the help on the Lupine Encoder.  Much of the trial data came from your posts.

When I say discontinued, I tend to mean - not available, you might find one on E-bay or the Buy/Sell/Trade forum here or someone may happen to run across one.

At the time I was writing the update, the Lupine Encoder was available, but I think it will rapidly fall into the category above.

It's probably something I should change.  I'll fix it soon.
