Title: What do i have to do to wire up a pot to control volume?

i need to put a volumn knob on my bar top.  Do i just wire a pot into the feed going to the amp?  From teh amp to the speakers?  do both lines need pots?

Anyone have a brief how to, so i dont screw this up?
