Im sure everyone here has a few of these. Usually they arent great games, but they are utterly difficult and frustrating. They may have weird rules, strange controls, and swear enducing cheating by the machine.. but none the less we continue to return to them..
For myself, I particularly like boxing games. There are quite a few out there, but only several which I consider really good (Ring King being one of them). The ultimate for frustrating boxing games has to be "Final Blow". Is anyone good at this game!?!?!? Whats your secret?? Because I continually pound the cpu and still end up losing.. repeat about 5 or 6 times. I may get the odd victory in (which is always a cheap flurry of jabs which seems to be a bug in the game where you can repeat about 50 in a row with good timing)...but then its back to swearing.....
Ultimatly I return, only to be pissed again..

Yes!! Punch Out. I remember beating it as a kid in the arcade, but when I play it on my MAME cab I just can't get through it. Lots of pounding & swearing, but I always come back....

the asteroid fields in Moon Shuttle irritate me to no end

commando. i really love the game play and the style is totally in keeping with my cocktail cab. occasionally i get 'on song' with it and get a good score. but most of the time i die really quickly and get nowhere near the high scores. damn frustrating.
even so, its still showing as the most played game on my cab...

Super R-Type on SNES. To truly beat the game, you had to beat it on pro level. Pro level is only accessible after you beat hard level. Anyone who plays R-Type knows what a difficult shooter it is, but this is just insane. I have never beat Pro level, I have been trying ever since I got my SNES 10 years ago!!! *argh!*

Currently its Burnout 3. I mean the game was super easy until I got to the Super class of cars, and now the AI cheats like a mofo. I don't mind hard games, as long as it's hard and fair! AI cheating makes Luxury mad!

I can't freaking kill Onaga in MK:Deception. No matter how hard I try , he always hits me into someting and I die with nearly full health.
Stupid game! I can't get enought of it either.

And Gyruss. Me and my roomate competed for months to see who could beat that game first. Neither of us ever did. ---goshdarn--- sun!

I had my family down from Indiana (to florida) and they were playing galaga...they would think you were a galaga god if you broke 100,000! ::)
I stink at marble madness and galaxian but still play ;)

I once had a zen-like session in which I scored like 10x my normal score (the scoring is such that 10x is a pretty difficult leap when you're already scoring pretty well.) I was sitting on a bench at the mall while my girlfriend shopped for shoes. I made her wait for me for like 20 minutes as I finished the game out. This was like a year ago and I've only played it 2 or 3 times since (just to demonstrate it to others) cuz I know I'll never duplicate that feat again. :)

Bejeweled....glad to see it's not just me. I had it for my Palm, and now I've got it for my cell phone too!
Jamdat bowling for my phone is THE game pissing me off. I've gotten a 275, but nothing closer than 250 since, and there just IS no way to know what's gonna happen.
Pocket hit and all I get is a 7-10 split! WTF?!?!?

Wow, that struck really close to home. I also got my high score on my cell phone while my girlfriend was shopping for god-knows-what. Perhaps the mall has some power to put a person in the Bejeweled zone..... or perhaps it's just a coincidence, and I'm an idiot ;D
I also vote for lemonade tycoon deluxe.... damn. Why is it that something as dumb as selling lemonade can suck up entire days at a time? I actually had to uninstall it when school started because it was taking up too much of my time.
