Title: Best joystick for tapper panel
Post by: Evil Otto on October 12, 2004, 10:04:54 am
Hello,

I will soon be parting with my rb tapper cab.  Unfortunately, I kind of like the game now I will probably want to build a dedicated panel to play it on mame.  I won't attempt to put authentic tap handles on it.  I m just wondnering what the best joystick would be for the tap controls.  What are the sticks with the fastest centering?  I tried it on my Hotrod SE, and it was ok, but if I am going to build a dedicated panel for it, I would want the best stick for the job.  Any opinions would be appreciated.

I'd assume any joystick that does not "wobble" too much when you let it snap back from the down position. A joy with an easy motion. Actually, with Tapper, I'd say a microswitch joy would make it easier to play than with the original leaf switches, since you'd know the "click point". (Does this qualify as "cheating"?)

Since it's only a 1-way joystick, you might even be able to build your own... (think about it, it's actually just a lever that pushes a button).

They come up on ebay all the time... And don't go for all that much.

I haven't got one yet because I didn't think I could really justify it to my wife...

"But its cool" doesn't work
