Title: Is there any way to hack a cell phone's LCD screen?
Post by: Hoagie_one on October 12, 2004, 09:42:28 am
TO use as an instruction manual LCD on my bartop cab?

Anyone know how to interface these?  any web sites that may be able to help me out?

what you want is a very dificult thing, each phone has a diferent interface.
what i would look are the lcd panel via usb or serilas that computer moders and overclockers use for monitoring temperatures, voltages, winamp info or just a cool few words

Don't they sell cheap LCD screens intended for interfacing with a PC?

By the way, why do LCD screens have a greyish background color? I remember when I was a teen, I took apart a calculator and I discovered that the grey background was just a piece of paper, and that the LCD still worked without it. Now, why aren't all LCD screens made with a WHITE background instead, for better contrast? Makes NO sense....

Or if you wanted something more than textual display and can drive a second monitor, here's an idea for hacking a PS One LCD into a VGA display....

I don't have any immediate cab-related application myself but have considered scaring one up just to have fun with the hack.....

how about a small thin TV? I just fixed my sisters for her. Radio shack
$75.00 (I think) 3" tv very thin has a small jack for cable input. like head phone mini plug and a adaptor to coax.
with a tv out card extend desktop to the tv?
A bit more advanced than I am ready to do, but should work.
