??? I am in the process of maming a pole position cabinet and hacked the steering wheel to use Oscar's mousehack and the gas pedal to use dual strike hack. I am able to select both of these in my mame settings and both work successfully. I would also like to play some PC driving/racing games such as some of the Need for Speed games on my cabinet. My problem is setting up the steering wheel in the PC game settings. I go into the settings and try to select my steering wheel, but I'm not having any luck. Has anybody else had any success doing this when they have used the same combination of mouse hack and dual strike hack? I am running Windows 2000. Do I need to add something to my gaming options on the control panel in order for the mousehack to work correctly with my PC games? Sorry for the long post. I hope you can follow my problem. Any help you can provide me, would greatly be appreciated.

Remember, your PC thinks your "steering wheel" is a mouse.
Try to set the game up for mouse control, if that's even possible.
I have no idea how well it'll work tho.

I had tried that, but wasn't able to choose mouse in the settings. Anyone else had any luck, or have any other suggestions? Is there a way maybe to create a controller in windows gaming options for the mousehack, and use it within the PC game?

I would guess that the PC games are expecting an analog signal for the wheel. I have a pole postition cab as well and am in the process of converting the controls to work with MAME. I'm using a mouse hack for the wheel and I just replaced the pedal pot with a 100K and wired to the gameport. I have been thinking about trying to incorporate a pot for the wheel as well that I could easily engage and disengage for driving games that use an analog signal. I'll post pics if I come up with something that works.

Well, I know the crowd over at www.racesimcentral.com has been over this a million times over. Those folks are experts with steering wheels and analog controls, and they build themselves rigs to drive PC games which is pretty neat. Check out www.frexgp.com for some cool stuff on race sim equipment, but go over to the racesimcentral board, and look under cockpit and control building and do a search there.

I tried to looking over at Race Sim Central and couldn't find any information on this. I did however post in the forum there on this, but nobody has replied yet.
Is there a way else to setup the mouse in Windows Gaming Options (as a dummy controller, etc.) so it can be picked when entering the PC game Controller Settings?

I think you're out of luck. Even if you could get the mouse signal to be recognised, PC games would play awfully with a 360degree wheel.
Bite the bullet and make another control panel, for a 270deg pot-based wheel ;)
