I am seeing strange behavior when trying to run windows at 800x600 resolution on my hantarex video monitor. Everything is fine at 640x480.
When i change to 800x600 i see a 1.5" square black box displayed on the screen towards bottom left of the screen. When i move the cursor over the box area it disappears "behind it" and then it reappears when its moved past the box. what is causing this?
Is it a problem relating to the video monitor or the AVGA card?
I would like ability to play PC games at 800x600 except this is preventing me.
cheers

I also noticed that when running Starwars (in Mame) last night that the box was there too. It was not immediately noticable since the background colour of the game is black anyway. However you could see it when a Tie fighter flew past it.
Seems to be happening in certain screen resolutions.
is this a memory problem with the AVGA?

It's a driver issue. Email Andy and he will tell you the fix.
(I don't remember it)

I have seen this once on my own cabinet when I first installed an ArcadeVGA card. It is a very strange problem. Presumably this is the older Radeon 7000 based card?
I no longer get the problem on my cabinet, it generally seems to go away if you change to 800 X 600 and then re-boot and it seems to be permanently gone. I am not really sure what the cause is, something buried deep in either the ATI chip or driver core.
