Title: Is this a jamma cabinet?
Post by: wakerlet on October 07, 2004, 05:28:42 pm
Okay,

I'm going to buy this cabinet and while looking at the pictures I'm wondering:

"Is this a JAMMA conversion?"

Take a look at the picture and give me your opinion.

Thanks,
Todd

Well, that picture doesn't say much other than that looks like a jamma harness by the power supply.  Does the harness have pinouts on it?  Does it match JAMMA's?  Then it is JAMMA :)  Where all the wires are going determins if a cabinet is jamma or not.  And if it isn't it is usually just a rewiring job to make it jamma.  The hardware should all be the same.

I take it the cabient doesn't have a game?  Got other pics of the cabinet?  The monitor looks in a wied position.  Like it's a mirrored cabinet or where the monitor is almost horizontal like a pacman cab.

Actually, its a Joust cocktail conversion.  A lucky find for me since I've been looking for one ;)

www.klov.com  If the game that wa in it is jamma, the cabinet is jamma :)  Joust was not.  But if this was a conversion cabinet that doesn;t mean the cabinet isn;t jamma.  Some coverter could have taken place.

BTW, if it is or isn;t jamma, like I said, it can be converted easily.  JAMMA is just a wiring standard.  It's that harness that plugs into the game.  Standard pinout.  Old games won;t be JAMMA but can easily be converted since it's the same hardware, just wires need to be wired to the jamma edge connector.
