Some of my slot work with the router was a bit off in a few places. I went back over those spots to straighten it out and of course that resulted in some spots with a slot that might be a little too wide.
Someone suggested a little hot glue in these spots to help hold the t molding in.
Anyone with thoughts on that?

Hot glue is perfect for this application. Just do a small section at a time and press the T-molding in firmly. If you screw up, it's difficult to clean the glue out of the slot, but it can be done.

i had a piece go screwy on me like that. Simple fix without the mess of glue was to take some real thin door weatherstrip foam and a long thin bladed screwdriver and tuck the foam in the slot, taking a rubber mallet to tap the spine of the tmold into the slot made it take up the slack and last i heard(built control for a friend) the tmold still held in place. YMMV.

Try gorilla glue, Just wet the wood apply a small amount of glue and lightly clamp it down. The glue expands and holds well. The up side is that it is easily removable to try again or to try something else

Do you mean wet the wood with water? That's probably a stupid question, but I'm not quite sure what you meant there.

Is wetting the wood safe for MDF?

Yep, I did the same as Nivo did and it works like a charm. No glue = no mess. I use glue only as a *last* resort. Sometimes you have to use glue. Example: You're working with old,used t-molding and the retaining clip side of it is permenantly squished and no longer has enough spring in it to hold the molding in the slot or if you're replacing t-molding on a 20 year old game with a 20 year old slot that has widened and is sloppy due to age. If thats the case then I use a hot glue gun with glue sticks that are labled "stringless". The stringless type allows you to pull the gun away without having hot glue cobwebs stringing all over everything and making a mess. I always try shimming the slot first though. I find that lining a worn slot with electrical tape sometimes closes up the slot just enough and gives the t-molding retainer something to grip on to.
