What do you all use to mount the glass cover and bezels for your monitors? I have an idea of what I think I would like to use on mine, but I am not sure if it even exists. What I have been thinking is finding something similar to a marquee retainer along the top edge of where the glass will be mounted, then sliding the glass into the lip of this and mounting holders to hold up the lower part of the glass that would be underneath the control panel...
Any pictures of different methods of mounting glass in an upright cab or comments on how I am considering doing this would be appreciated. (Or links to other similar topics, searched, but didn't find anything) Thanks! ;D

Most have wood slats along each side, and along the top, and bottom, with the bottom one having a lip that's tall enough to match the thickness of the glass. This is the easiest method for glass that's laying at 65' angle or less...

sorry about having no input, but i would love to hear this one too. i bought an arcade monitor and a bezel from the same company, and have kept this question in the back of my mind, since i haven't progressed far enough to worry about it in my cab yet...so smother on some answers please everyone. pics would be great too.

Thanks, that makes sense. I will be mounting my monitor at a very non extreme angle, not sure what it is, but it will be more like 80 degrees, maybe less than that. Anyone have other methods that they are using or know of any good examples I should take a look at? Seems like there aren't many sources that show how they do this part of the cab making, maybe it is time that I head out to the hardware store and see if I can find the things that I could use for the idea that I have there... (but would still love to see what others are doing/hear about some other methods ideas :) )

Here is something like I was thinking for the lower pieces to hold the glass in:

Note that these would be underneath the CP and would not be visible (unless the CP was open). Still haven't found anything along the lines of what I was thinking for the upper part, but still looking... :D

80' will put alot of weight on whatever support is at the bottom (be it a lip, or a screwed on retainer). Keep that in mind. If the glass is laid at a lower angle, more weight gets distributed to the support slats and a less on the bottom lip/support.

I must be stating the angle of my glass in a way other than the accepted convention... I am saying 80 degrees where 90 degrees would be vertical and 0 would be horizontal so my glass will be at something like 5 or 10 degrees by your convention I think. :)

Well I wandered around the hardware store for about an hour today and found something that seems will work for what I am looking to do. What is it that I found? those metal strips for where the carpet meets a non carpet flooring. I didn't get one yet as I want to get my monitor set in place before I grab one of these, but from the looks of it I'll be able to grab one of these, shorten it by a few inches, drill a few holes in it, paint it black and it will be good to go. :D I guess I'll just see how this works out...

I too am looking for a glass retainer. I couldn't find it on the Happ website, and when I called they said they carry it...but there is no picture or dimensions of it.
Has anyone bought one of these retainers from Happ? The one I'm looking for is something similar to one used on a NFL Blitz, NBA Showtime or Mortal Kombat cab.
Thanks!

I would really be interested in seeing this too... I didn't even know that there was something like this offered at Happ. Are the retainers for the cabs you mention a lipped metal edge that the top of the glass fits into or does it work some other way? Thanks...

Betson carries some as well. I'll look into this and let you know.

As it turns out, Betson doesn't carry these. Happs claims to carry them, but it's not what I was looking for. I'm now going to make a shelf just below the cp and rest the monitor glass on the shelf and against the cp.
I'll let you know how it turns out...could be a while though.

Cool, thanks for updating... :D I will probably do something similar to what you are going to do too and mount it in a way that I can adjust it. (I think) and use something similar to what I talked about before to hold it in place at the top. I need to get to work and finish my cab! ;)
