I won an auction on eBay and soon after I got an email from the seller that the shipping wasn't correctly listed. I replied saying that he should pay for the shipping difference since it was his mistake and he agreed. I PayPalled him and now I've recieved an email saying that he declined payment. He then sent me an email requesting I send it to an alternate PayPal account and that his previous one has a "slight problem." It just seems to be getting more and more fishy. Am I just paranoid?

Back away from the fraud.
This sounds like a complete scam. I think after two strikes you should make him ship first. If he is not amendable (esp after the "shipping mistake" and decline of paymnet) then let it go.
My 2 cents.

say that you will only send payments to whatever official sources ebay has listed. if he won't take paypal to the correct account, try check/money order to the address on ebay's file. you are only required to pay the shipping as stated in the auction, no matter what the true shipping cost is if it has been stated. if you are really worried about fraud, post messages on the ebay message board and contact customer support as well.

Hmm... I also noticed that in the payment denied email that it says his confirmed address is mine. He asked me to place my address in the comment field when I paid the first time. Do you not get the address information until you accept payment and was this just a tricky way of getting mine?

I had this when a good seller went bad. I was right in the middle of it. Whenever someone complains to Paypal, they hold the guys acccount. So he had to setup another one.
I waited 45 days for my item, as soon as I put a complaint to paypal, they held him up, and he couldn't do anymore scams.
Forget it, leave a negative, and be happy.

At this point you may be disappointed but you are not out any money. . . yet. Leave a negative to warn others and walk away now while you still can.

I've made an inquiry to PayPal about it. I'll see what they have to say before leave negative feedback on eBay.
-
What the guys feedback like?
-
It's kinda weird. He has positive feedback, but the account is two years old and hasn't been used until very recently. Here (http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=thesellingdutchie)'s his profile info.

All the feedback is about him as a BUYER not a SELLER

Never buy from someone with only 3 feedback.
My 2 cents....

Well, I don't know how long it will be before PayPal gets back to me, so I emailed him stating I would only use the account he had posted with the auction. We'll see what he says.
Never buy from someone with only 3 feedback.
My 2 cents....
I figure everybody has to start somewhere.
