Title: How high should a trackball stick up above CP?

How high should a 3" trackball stick out from the top of the control panel? I'm thinking about 1", but I'd like to hear opinions from those who've built theres already.

If you use a trackball mount, then it would be @ 1 inch max.

Arcade trackball?  Look at the trackball sideways - the amount of ball showing above the plastic housing is the amount which should stick through, they are supposed to be mounted in metal.

Has anyone tried one of the Happs 'High Boy' trackballs yet?  I've been considering this item but would be interested in any feedback from someone who's tried one already...

someone did a writeup on how they got more ball above the wood by removing the top of the trackball case and mounting it directly to the wood.

Well no wonder I've been getting such measly search results--I've been using the 'Search' feature on the site's left menu list instead of the Forum search link (shouldn't that be located inside the 'BYOAC Forums' rectangle?)  This explains why I had a whopping (2) results when I did my search for 'high-ball'.  

My bad.  Thanks for all the great links, Kremmit (including the correct search link  :) )

[Or maybe not...now I have NO idea which trackball I should get!!]
