Well, I

My question is, why are you gonna use DOS? That motherboard supports everything you need for a very good WinXP box. WinXP is the way to go unless you have old PI or PII era parts.

Yeah, what he said. :)
I'm currently running Windows 2000 on my mame box (P4 2.8GHz).
I'm going to be switching it back to Windows 98SE because I'm unhappy with the lack of dual mouse (trackball) support in Win2k and I'm not ready to commit to Windows XP.
I'd never go back to DOS, though.

I'd go DOS on anything less than say a 550mHz, but at least Win98SE on anything faster. For a general use machine though, I'd never go back to Win98. XP is a much better OS.
For the record, the AWE32 and 64 do SB, SB Pro, and SB16 compatibility through emulation.
I'd suggest a SB16 PCI card instead as you don't need the MIDI stuff which the AWE's strong suit.

Well, I want to use DOS because this is a machine only for emulators, and mainly because I want to keep using the original resolutions of all arcades and consoles that I play. I really doubt that you could do this using Windows (at least without a ArcadeVGA, I would really like to have one, but Andy dont reply my emails).

I see...well, I could not really find any SB16 PCI in my country. All I can find is SB 128 PCI and SB Vibra PCI. These would also work ?
And those that use SB PCI, what motherboard do you have ?
Thanks.
