On my Control Panel im having four 8 way joysticks, 6 buttons each, but i also ordered a 4 way red balltop for older games. I was wondering how many buttons most of you have next to your 4 way joystick. I dont want to have to use the buttons from my first 8 way with my 4 way, I was thinking maybe have 2 buttons wired into the same slots as the first two buttons by the 8 way, and an additional start and coin button for the 4 way wired to the same slots as the start and coin buttons to the first 8 way stick. The 4 way stick would also be wired into the same slot as the first 8 way. So it would be my 4 way with an addition two buttons, and a start and coin button, I was wondering what other buttons some of you have with your four way, I'm not really sure, just looking for ideas, thanks.

you should have only 4 buttons for player 3 and 4 unless you are gonna use CONSOLE games in your cabinet.
Having a 4-way in your panel is good idea, and some games use 1 button some games use 4-buttons. I have my 4-way use the same buttons as the 8-way cause when a game that is a 4-way is selected and run, the 8-way isd totally disabled (not configured to be use) and only the 4-way is to be use along with the buttons. Same goes if an 8-way game is selected, the 4-way will be disabled.
This is my setup
8-way x x x 4-way

BTW if you are going to use the 360 Joysticks, take a look at this and maybe it will help you out deciding.

Ive decided to do something like this
O O X O O
1 Start 1 coin 4 Way Button 1 Button 2
Along with the normal layout of 4 8 ways, 6 buttons each, the buttons wont be spread out real far like that, i just did that to show you what the buttons represented.
