I KNOW I AM YELLING !! :D
Try this game asap..its faster then ANY other racing game I have ever played..even faster then the once in the arcades. And the crashes are really cool, nice cars, very detailed tracks, smart AI,simple yet very effective controls, easy to drift and all that. You get to rip your own music AND choose the track you wanna hear in game(unlike most games picks random tracks for you which can be annoying).I played on xbox live as well and input delay+lag doesnt really kill the game(unlike fighting games where timing is very important).Over all its an excellent game.I give it 10/10 hands down ! ;D
(I am generally very picky about what I am playing)
We have been playing like non stop, had some friends over and EVERYONE is hooked in an instant !! You dont really have to be a racing game fan cuz its that great. And invest on a steering wheel cuz its too good to be played with a pad.I got the madcatz universel steering wheel, works great for this game couldnt be any happier ;D

Snaake have you played Outrun 2? It's awesome.
If Burnout 3 is better than that game then it must be exceptional.
-
Outrun2 got nothin on burnout3..try and and you will see 8)
Yes I did play the demo..its a fairly good game but its just not "fast" enough.Worse yet,I stoped playing every other racing games cuz they are slow now ;)
-
Burnout 3 is so good that my wife even likes it and she is generally hostile to video games :o
-
I've missed FAR TOO MANY classes these past few weeks because of Burnout 3. I haven't been this into a game for quite a while.... try it now.
-
Hey Snake, I never got asking price on my 36" monitor, and decided it was a sign for me to build a Burnout 3 sitdown cab with it ;D. I've seen Outrun 2 also and even though its not as hot as burnout3 both would make an awsome addition to my garage arcade!
So you say the Universal wheel is good? It woud be nice to be compatible with PS2 so I can then play Grand Turismo 4 as well on it.
-
OMG a cab just for this !! :o
Only if I had the space...I SOOOOOOOOOO want one considering I have that spare 33" vga just sittin there :(
I mean the game looks sooo clean on vga monitor using x2vga...just one of a kind !
Yeah the madcatz universel steering wheel works great. You can just pull the gear for turbo or use the other button right on the steering wheel and drifting is cake in this game with a steering wheel. It will probley work just fine for GT4 as well.
-
I stopped playing this game once Star Wars Battlefront came out. That's all I play now.
-
SNAAKE,
If you're going to play with a steering wheel, at least get a real one. The Logitech Force Feedback is so far superior to all the other ones it's not even funny. I played with all the different wheels out there and hated all of the others. They have too much slack or play in the wheel. Try this, move the wheel slightly left or slightly right and the car probably doesn't even move. If the steering wheel is in the 12:00 position, you probably have to move to 1:00 or farther to even get the car to move. That is bad, especially for Burnout.
By the way, Burnout was a great game. Burnout 2 was very disappointing to me. I hope Burnout 3 is better, but I think it's just a super Burnout 2 and not an improved Burnout. What I really liked abou the first installment is that you couldn't bump other cars, it was a real challenge and getting the turbo boost was also challenging. Burnout 2 was just way too easy. It gave you too much leeway to hit other cars and turbo came simply. Let's put it this way, when I played Burnout, it took a while to learn the tracks and win the race. I finished like the first 4 or 5 races in Burnout 2 the first time I played--that's too easy.

Which logitech steering wheel are you talking about here ?? I didnt know they have a logitech for Xbox.
Link ???
-
No, sorry, it's the PS2 version. I missed the part about you having an Xbox. I don't think they have a great wheel for Xbox yet. If you know someone with Burnout and the Logitech wheel, definitely try it out--awesome!
-
gamespy.com just named burnout 3 game of the month.
beating out sims2
-
Burnout 3 is an awesome game. For crashing and making people crash, it's unmatched!!
But I prefer the actual racing in Outrun 2. Sweet, sweet cross country arcade SEGA style racing. Plus mad online fun!
I've played the new demo (in XBOX Magazine) of it to DEATH.
Now if SEGA can just do an XBOX Live version of Initial D 3rd Stage it's on. :D
And BTW, if you need a great XBOX wheel, try tracking down the Lotus wheel. It's the best thing out there for the XBOX at this moment.

Burnout 3 is an amazing racing game.. Seriously..
I played it for 3 days straight, barely saw the sun :)
I also got addicted to Outrun 2. I found myself humming along with the tunes and not knowing why or how I was able to, till i realized they were updated versions from the original.. (nice touch).
The whole "gain hearts" thing is kinda dumb, but.. whatever i guess it adds to replayability cause you have more to do than just race..

I got Burnout 3 a few days ago - I agree, it's awesome :)
I don't know if this is in there as I haven't looked too deeply yet (& some will say this defeats the point) but I would like to see a mode where you can race without traffic. I think this would make a nice extra just as a break from worrying about head-ons :)
So far the Road Rage events are my favorite - smash up as many rivals as possible in the time limit ;D
-
Anyone have an opinion on which is better, Xbox or Playstation2 versions? Both support progressive out. Usually xbox has slightly better graphics. Is this also the case with Burnout 3? I don't care about online or lan play.
-
PS2 version dont let you use custom sound track so you are pretty much stuck with those crappy band music forever while xbox version let you use your own music..DOPE ! :D
(add serious replay value imo)
-
I just played it at WalMart... what an awesome game! I love the slow motion crash button, where you can steer your crashed car into traffic for more points... that was cool as hell...
-
gotta play this game in 16:9 format with the first person view on..
(no external car view, chews up fps unnecissarily rendering the car and detracts from the sense of speed)
-

xbox version does not allow for custom soundtracks.. we too are stuck with that dogshit collection of what sounds like the rejected songs from "insert random Tony hawk pro skater game here"
if i have to hear that "we are the stupid generation" ,or whatever it is that damn theme song is about any more im gonna burnout myself and have to drive headlong into a semi..
i love this game, but i think my replay value and future with it is at serious risk as there is no way to disable this fodder..even after setting the music volume to zero in the options it still continues..
some genius over at xbox-scene is gonna have to come up with a way to replace the audio tracks on this ..
awarded, best gameplay,
worst soundtrack..EVER

Ok first of all..plannetjay will rape you with his E-power for saying things like "dogsh!t" ;)
SECOND,xbox version of burnout 3 DOES allow you to use custom soundtracks..it even let you choose what tracks you wanna hear "IN GAME".Like you press R to switch songs even in game, that HAS to be one of the best feature EVER as most games just choose random songs for you(nfs hot pursuit for instance).Anyway go to players profile,EA trax, and press "X" and you can switch music tracks..and you never EVER have to listen to "we are the lazy generation" again ;D
Of course first you gotta rip your legal store bought CDs from ms dashboard to xbox HD.There are other ways to directly replace the .wma tracks using FTP(what I do).Of coures you gotta have a modded xbox if you want acces to your xbox HD from your computer.

ok ,first of all ,nobody likes an ass kisser. :-*

Again ill say it...Burnout three DOES NOT support custom soundtracks..
You only have the ability to choose where and when you here the same lame EA tracks provided on the game..
a CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK by defineition is a series of songs ripped from your xbox hardrive and stored specifically as a soundtrack under a name given by you.
you cannot play songs in your personal custom soundtracks in game or in menu...
if im wrong id love to see a walkthrough on where this hidden featue is..

if im wrong id love to see a walkthrough on where this hidden featue is..
You are wrong and you forgot to take your medication ::)
Its not a "hidden" feature..its supposed to be in the game.
Driver details > settings > EA GAMES TRAX > Press X to switch tracks and A to confirm. Now if it was really THAT hard to figure out then you shouldn't even be here in the first place.

I agree one hundred percent. you werent kissing nobodys ass, you were kissing somebody's ass...
again ,if i offend an admin or blatently violated The TOS i have no doubt they would unleash their wrath with lightining speed and brutal impunity..... but ultimately its not your place try to persuade or dictate to me how to express myself.
my problem being, your only a member and have absolutely no place trying to play mouthpiece to the gods..
I still hold fast that custom tracks are not possible in this game.., maybe the build i have is early and they didnt yet include that feature. but there is no function to facilitate the listening of personal soundtracks in this games EA traks section.
i can choose whether a song is heard ingame, in menu, and in some cases off, but that is it.. and those songs are only the songs that are made available by the game itself. not custom songs.
The original Burnout stated it was 480p on the box when it wasnt.. so this would not be the first time a feature for this title listed on the box was not included in the xbe.
-
Dynagod - I'm not sure how you seem to be having so much trouble with custom soundtracks, but Burnout 3 DOES in fact support custom soundtracks on your xbox harddrive - maybe you're getting hung up on the fact that you can also select which EA songs are used and not used, as well as for which parts of the game, but you can also select A CUSTOM music list (on the screen where you can select your EA TRAX or whatever, select the next list...). Unless you got a bootleg or a pre-release from someone inside the company, I don't see any way your copy wouldn't have this feature [I got my copy the day it came out...]. If it IS missing, then your game is quite screwed up, and you should exchange it

Well actually you can also use the xbox music mixer and you can transfer songs from your computer with an easier to use interface than the open soruce stuff. Plus no chip neccessary for all your illegally downloaded Metallica to be transferred to your xbox hard drive.
