Title: 15 pin adapter

is there any way i can use a 15 pin joystick through the parallel port? i already wired everything up and i wanted to test it out but the computer that i got didnt have the port. i was wondering if i could do this and use like sneskey or something.

You ought to just look for an inexpensive sound/game card (pricewatch has some that start at $4.00 shipped).  It will be alot less work doing it that way than trying to rewire it to the parallel port (if it can even be done), or using an adapter, if available.

There are also gameport -> usb adapters out there.  These will probably be easier to configure then adding a second sound card that isn't as good.. and disabling everything BUT the game card.

You can get dedicated gameport cards (heck, I've got one) but I've only seen them in ISA flavors.  I'll have to second USB as well.

Try computer repair shops, the junkyard, or anyplace that accepts/dismantles/works on old computers.  I used to work near a place that accepted donations of old computers, dismantled 'em, and used the best parts to build machines for poor people.  They threw the parts they didn't use in the same dumpster my store used- seems like all of the computers I pulled out of there had those cheapo soundcards, and sometimes the dedicated gameport cards as well.  It seems like every computer repair shop I've ever been in has boxes of old parts sitting in the back that they've pulled from scrapped systems.  I have also rescued computers from the dump, they usually have a big pile of 'em sitting in the hazmat/recycling area up front.

I don't see why you have to bother trying to disable everything but the gameport on it, either.  Just don't connect anything to the speakers, mic, or line inputs on the card, and who cares whether they're working or not?
