I am getting ready to build a cocktail that has the traditional end to end players but also has the side control panel so horizontal games can also be played. I am looking for a FE that will rotate to whatever side people are trying to control it from.
1. If Player One on the vertical end starts to press buttons or something, then the FE will rotate to face him so he can control the list.
2. If Player Two on the vertical end starts to press buttons, it will rotate to face him,
3. If either one of the players on the side-by-side control panel press buttons, the FE will rotate to face them.
Do any FE's out there support this?
OR, are their any FE's were you can at least press a button to rotate it on the fly without having to exit the FE and change some settings?

i remember arcadeos could rotate by keypress...if i am not mistaken so can advance menu. i havent tried it with kymaera or ultrastyle. they might be able to rotate on the fly too. and of course 3darcade can rotate on the fly. with the default skin setup hit "8" to switch between a horizontal and vertical layout.

I know I'm a little biased as my fe doesn't support rotation, but I don't think software rotation is the answer. I really prefer hardware rotation. Unless your card is older than dirt, the newest catalist(ati) and nvidia drivers both support hardware rotation.
The main benefit of this is you don't have to worry if your favorite emulator supports rotation, thus expanding the amount of games you can play on a vertical setup. Also, both card sets support hotkeys for rotation on the fly, so you could easily do just as you want with no problems.
And for the record, arcadevga cards also support hardware rotation, so there is no excuse.
Note: I've been told that hardware rotation doesn't always work in 9x, but everyone should be running xp at this point anyway. ;)

this is the ONLY sort of hardware rotation i trust ;D
