Title: Character Animation in FE-3DARCADE :-)
Post by: )p( on September 10, 2002, 10:42:41 am
I had to test it after I said in the thread below that it in principle should work...and it does :-)

Bones animation including those from charater studio in max will play automatically on models in the fe. Either as part of the environmental model...the best way... or even as a cab...in the movie below I mapped the model to I-robot in the gamelist overriding the irobot model...so instead of it the animated character is shown...
This should be cool to add all sorts of activity to the arcade...Working crane machines you name it  :)

strange runs ok here...
a copy is also here: http://3darcade.mameworld.net/character.mpg (http://3darcade.mameworld.net/character.mpg)
you may have to copy that into the adress bar...mameworld does not like linking ;-)

I tried it too... wmp says it needs the llama codec or some such nonsense.  I beleive it's the video compression you used that's screwing it up.

As I uploaded the creature model anyway...you can also try it yourself in the fe:http://www.i-modernist.com/creature.w3d (http://www.i-modernist.com/creature.w3d)

put it your models folder and to let it show up as in the video adjust the irobot entry in arcades/lists/fpsdemo2.atf to:

|I, Robot|irobot|1983|Atari|||Shooter / Misc.|.36b10|Yes|mame|arcade|creature|etc.|etc.

Notice the creature entry after arcade...that will override the Irobot model showing up. Remove the model after you tried it from your models folder...
