Title: Newbie Help Mamewah set-up

Greetings,

I am using mamewah set-up with mame 84b. I can generate a game list using roms folder only, but can not create the list by dat file or rom folder vs. dat file. Trying to get work work so I can create game list via filtering. Been trying for two weeks...please help.

PS. I did create a dat file by mame -listxml|xml2info>mame.dat - but can not get dat file only or rom folder vs. dat file to work. Not sure if I have thing point to the proper files.

Try mamewah setup utility. This is a great little program that configures mamewah. Give it a go.

Yes I am using the mamewah set-up - and when I try to generate the game list by trying to use dat file only or rom vs. dat file - I dont get the option to create the game list. But I can get it to work if I use rom file only.

If you're using the new MAMEwah 1.5, the setup util won't help you. But it does make games lists on the newer versions of MAME.

If you're using the old MAMEwah switch to MAME .83 and then it'll make the games list no problem! The setup util is a real brain saver.

I think that's pretty accurate. I'm sure if not someone will be happy to correct me! =)

Something is wrong then.  Check that something is actually in mame.dat.
