Title: Anyone know where to get angled project boxes?
Post by: Sasquatch! on September 29, 2004, 07:54:24 pm
I'm specifically looking for something very much like this:

It's the project box that I used for my You Don't Know Jack controllers (http://www.arcadeparadise.org/console/ydkj/) (which I'm redoing, hence my asking :)), and it's also the box that Twisty Grip used for their stand-alone spinner box back in the day.

Radio Shack doesn't carry it anymore, and Parts Express - while they have a bunch of "project boxes" doesn't have one that angles like this.  So does anyone have any idea where to get such a beast?

If their's a Fry's near you, I know they have them.  You could otherwise try their online system, outpost.com

I can't find any project boxes on outpost.com, but there is a Fry's near me that just opened, so perhaps I'll have to check them out now...

I'd also like to know since I need a bunch for controls (Pole Position wheel, Star Wars yoke, etc).  Unfortunately there is no Fryes near where I live.   :(

OK, for those of you who don't live near a Fry's (one just opened by me too, been invaluable for little "oh, I forgot to order that" parts for my cab" - here's another nice electronics site that has a large selection of project boxes: www.mouser.com

:o Cool!  Kinda wish I could actually see pictures of these things and not just sketches, but I think that'll do.  Thanks, MinerAl.

Just to follow up on this, Fry's does indeed have this exact unit.  The sticker says "pactecenclosures.com" on the bottom, and sure enough, it's model KEU-10 at Pac-Tec.  Thanks for the tip, johnnysmitch!

BTW, the costs pretty much the same at Fry's ($19.99) as it does direct through Pac-Tec ($19.66).
