Title: I-PAC2 jumper question
Post by: currygoat11 on September 27, 2004, 10:13:44 pm
I see that there's supposedly a jumper to allow switching between MAME and ALT for the purpose of custom configurations....

well I cannot find any documentation on the CD about how I'm supposed to set the jumper. I see a jumper terminal (5 sets lined up in a row).... but which is which?  The board isn't marked.  anyone?

That set of pins is actually for the LED harness

If you look at here (http://www.ultimarc.com/ipac1.html) you can see that the IPAC4 has 2 red jumpers located between the encoder chips as well as the pin headers (on the left side), the IPAC2 only has the pin header.  Not sure why this is done but you don't need to set any jumpers for your IPAC, you can just reconfigure the mappings using the winipac utility to suit your needs.

Hmm okay. Well that was misleading from reading the docs.... I'll go ahead and see if I can custom set the config!  Thank you a lot!

The new I-PAC 2's don't have jumpers for MAME/ALT or PS2/USB, they auto detect them.  I assume by that if you don't have a configuration loaded (from the WinIPAC software) that it assumes the default MAME setting are to be used.

well last night I used WinIPAC_IPD to configure all the keys for my I-PAC2. For some reason, the "Panel View" would not program the device properly. I had to use "Table View" to get it to work. Not sure if this is a bug in the program or not. Well anyways...
