Title: XP Woes
Post by: Minwah on September 09, 2002, 04:24:15 am
Bit off topic, but:

I just installed XP, but I'm being plagued by a problem.  It keeps restarting itself, and suggests it is a device driver problem.  I have installed all latest drivers, and also tried disabling all unecessary devices - it hasn't worked.

I'm a bit stuck as to what to do next.  I thought I could try updating the BIOS (?).  Anyone any ideas??

Cheers

Sorry, yes:

Asus A7A266 m/b (o/b sound),
AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz,
256Mb DDR RAM,
40Gb 7200rpm h/d,
ATI Radeon AGP 32Mb.

Other h/w I have is: floppy, cd-rom, cd-writer, mouse, k/board.  No PCI cards used.

I found a revision of the m/b BIOS which has this change:

'Add ATI AGP display card patch to fix that the system can not execute AGP cycle with ATI AGP display cards.'

But I don't know what this means  :-[ and I'm not sure if it will help (?)

Thanks
