I can't seem to figure out how to configure the trackball!
I read on KLOV that some boards don't have trackball support. Does this mean I need a different ROM?
Anyone know how to make it recognise my trackball?
-
Have you been into the controller properties and enabled mouse support for that game? I don't have a trackball, but it seems a fairly safe bet that will help :)
-
Controller Properties? Tab?
I haven't messing with Mame settings much.. As you can tell from my LAST problem. hehe
The TAB menu didn't have anything about mouse support. I've tried a bunch of F keys and i couldn't find it there either. You're probably right, but I can't find the menu for it. :P

I think he assumed you were using mame32. If you are using the commandline mame look in the ini file.
-
Darn, I'm afraid I still can't figure it out. I looked in a few ini files and no mention of a mouse..
How can Marble Madness of all things not use the trackball as default!?
-
what version of mame are you using? commandline mame or mame32.
If commandline mame look in the mame.ini file in your mame folder.
If in mame32, goto Options/Default options...
Click on the Controllers tab and enable mouse input.

I'm using both mame 36 for dos and mame 60 for dos. Neither have a mame.ini file. There is a mame.cfg file in mame 36 and it has mouse=yes.
I can't believe its so hard to enable the mouse for a game that is SUPPOSED to use a trackball! Wierd.
-
did you ever do a mame -cc with version 60?
-
ahhhhh
its -createconfig btw.
it works now. Like i've said before I haven't messed around much with the software settings. I'm more of a hardware guy. I don't have a dedicated computer yet either so its not in its final setup yet either.
After i did the createconfig I got my ini file and i set it to mouse=1. it works now.

-cc is short for -createconfig, both should work.
-
nope, -cc didn't work for my version. -createconfig worked fine though.
