How often and for how long, does everyone play their MAME machines that they built? Ive had mine completed (well not really, looks like crap but its fully functional) for almost a year now, and I find i hardly play it. Granted the Harddrive was bad for a couple months i finally fixed it, but I dunno the "coolness" factor wore off and now its just kind of a cool accomplishment to look at.
I think its mainly cause theres no post 2000 games right now, and i know a lot of you classic people could play nothing made past 1990 and be fine but im only 20, most of the games i grew up playing are newer, and i still go to arcades to play the newest games. And also most arcade games arent meant for you to play for an hour, even with unlimited credits
so anyway, answer the question

I will hit mine atleast once a week for about 1/2 hour unless I have company. When there is someone over to challenge then we will play for hours!
-
my cab is not even finished yet i put in hour or 2 a week into into...(yes, that is an hour or 2 of not building..sigh)
-
I play a few hours a week. I playing PS2 more them my Mame Machine.
-
I play about an hour a week. I'll just hop on it and play a quick game here and there.
But if I have friends over, it's running non-stop.
-
Yup I play a couple of hours a week, but find that if I have friends over we will play for hours. I find that its a nice break if I have 15-20 minutes before I have to do something to jump on a play a couple quick games.

Mine isn't done yet (having problems getting games to acutally display (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=25066)) but when it was playable I would throw down a game or two of Robotron occasionally. Wan't much fun, as I need a faster machine to play it (AMD K6/2 533 underclocked (not intentionally) to 450).

Not as often I should.

so anyway, answer the question
'kay :-[
i'm able to duck home during the day quite often so i play it almost every day. and yes, i'm one of those old codgers who has nothing past 1990 (well 1991 and ONE 1992 game- asterix).
but i'm gettin' on and i'm finding that someof the games where you have to pound the buttons is getting painful (eg- galaga, raiden etc) so i'm taking it easy and favouring the less 'poundy' games. for instance bank panic and tetris...
-
I use it at least once a day - often for about an hour. I play a wide variety of games both old and new. Unfortunately, 2 player VS games like fighters don't go too well when I play my friends. I crush them and no one has any fun. However, coop games are much more enjoyable and we can play those for hours at a time.

Usually 5-10 minutes a day. Stepmania was getting a lot of use (~90 min. a day between my wife and me) before the video card died :/
-
I have the crappiest countertop you ever did see... no sound 1 joystick 6 buttons and I play for about a hour a day. :o Of course it helps that it is in my office and i usually play in 10 minute intervals during the day. If the wife ever lets me have a cabinet and I don't put it in my office I may never play
-
I play mine all the time in my head. I'm quite good, too. Is that sufficient? ;D

yeah i definately agree playing with friends is like 10x more fun. i dunno i just get bored standing there in my garage playing by myself, heh. if im gonna play something alone i go play my EQ2 beta (im super addicted :o)
hey has anyone tried that version of MAME you can play online vs people? maybe its not mame, its some kind of emulator though. it would be pretty cool playing people online in fighting games from my cab, i could just stick a wireless card out there to get internet

I have heard there used to be a version of MAME with some sort of internet client software attached to it although it's no longer supported/updated. WinKawaks has the ability though and I've used that one a few times on my PC. I think you need a good internet connection though. (?)
