Trying to set up a new cabinet, figure I'll use Mame .84 (although I had similar problems with .69)
ArcadeOS displays just fine. Certain games, like Robotron, display just fine.
I try to play a Neo Geo game, and all I get is a widescreen-looking picture, that is all out of whack because it's on an arcade monitor.
There are other non-Neo Geo games that do similar things, like Uo Poko. Haven't tried a lot of others yet.
I know it's not video card related. I brought the drive upstairs and hooked it to this machine. I left it in arcade monitor mode so I could see what was up.
ArcadeOS went crazy, it's displaying correctly.
Robotron went crazy too.
King Of The Monsters (Neo Geo) displayed in a crystal clear picture, albiet squished and cut off. Same with Uo Poko.
It appears these games aren't being run @ 15KHz. Why would that be?

Just tried some other games.
Bubbles displays just fine.
So does Elevator Action.
Blaster? Nope! Now, why THAT would be is beyond me, since it uses the Williams hardware, with the same resolution.
Robocop 1 & 2 - same thing.
I don't get it. It's not the ROMs, that much I know.

Add 'Gauntlet' and 'Flicky' to the "does not output correctly' list.

Tried turning tweak = off and resolution = 320x240. Now I get a split image. J-PAC is clearly doing it's job, splitting the signal, but what I want to know is why it's not outputting this signal to begin with? And why only certain games?

Very strange. I haven't gone near any monitor settings since I got AdvMame 0.66 all set up with my Donkey Kong Jr monitor (I went through EVERY game a made sure AdvMame was picking the best mode for each). Have you tried setting up AdvanceMame and tweaking the default resolutions?
-
The last time I tried an Advance product it locked the system hard, repeatedly, so I haven't returned. I might give it another go. Is it true that the command line options are almost completely different from Mame?
-
smf on the Mame.net forums suggested trying the command line option '-novesa' and it worked a treat.
Unfortunately ArcadeOS doesn't have this as an option, not that I can see.
