Title: Unique Computer Issue -- Keywiz
Post by: Hoagie_one on September 21, 2004, 11:32:12 pm
Is there any way to add a key to the default Rom setup?  You see I have a unique problem   The computer im using, occasionally when the power cable is removed, requires a "f2" keypress to continue the boot sequence.  This is prior to windows loading, and the custom keyset to load.  I need to be able to press that f2 without hooking up a keyboard.  Is there any way you can help me with this problem.  "F2" seems to be one of the keys not in the default setup, normal or shazaam for the Keywiz.

Thanks

Sorry, your PC has to boot all the way up before you can change the KeyWiz keyset.  Maybe you should sell it and get an Ipac.  I hear that those can be programmed with a keyset and it even when the PC is powered off.

what about hacking a keyboard and use that along with your keywiz.  just add a new button for "F2" and wire that to the keyboard hack.  unfortunately the keywiz uses a switched pass-through for ps-2 so if you don't have access to that switch you would probably have to use splitter.

well, that would certainly be a much easier fix!

You might have missed this.  F2 is included as a definition in the default RAM set.

If you really need to hit F2, do an "On-the-fly" codeset switch, and while holding the the Shazaaam! button, hit the button you have attached to input "L" (I believe, doing this from memory.)

Did you get all that?  :)

Of course, changing the battery would be the best bet :)
