Title: Low boy Cabinet plans required
Post by: Johnson on September 21, 2004, 10:33:06 am
Hi Guys

Newie here, after some arcade cabinet designs in the form of a low boy, similar to the picture below, want to build this from the start but can only find tall cabinets or table tops scales and designs. Does anyone have the plans to build one of these?  Any help appreciated.

Cheers
Mal

You could probably modify one of the plans @ www.jakobud.com to resemble that...

Dig it?

The main reason as to why you can't find the designs for the low boys is they are built here in Oz by LAI.  Your best bet would be to try and find an actual machine and measure from it.   Maybe get in contact with OzStick as he may have a cab he could measure from.

PS - did you get that picture from ebay.com.au?

I think some people refer to those as "Fatboys", ie. the fatter versions of the standard lowboy cabs (seen here: http://www.amusementworx.com.au/machines/cabinets/neogeo.htm) which for some reason were popular here in Aus.

I have 3 standard lowboys I could measure, but no fatties.

That would be great if you could measure them up for me, appreciate it. Might see the guy at ozstick and see what he's got.

theres a place in Bayswater that has a low boy "fatty as such" that last resort was going to try and measure up.

Ya right they look different but thats what i'm after  :P If i could get a copy of the measurements from your lowboys that would be excellent then I can alter in need be to fit a fatboy or leave as a lowboy.

Yeha the pic came from ebay.com.au. There was a fatboy on there not long ago in bris.

Just about to start on the controls next week to get it going and then build the cab soonish.

Bayswater - is that the one in Perth (near where I live) or over in the eastern states.

I remember seeing that cab a few times on ebay, kept getting relisted as the price was fairly high but I guess it eventually sold.

...

Sure, I'll try and start measuring up this weekend.  You can view the Lowboy cab I just completed in this thread:  http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=25051

Nah bayswater in Vic....

I like the cab you did, hella good ya got it at work to play, like the look of it, real nice cab...

Great, thanks mate, appreciate the effort.... Look forward to seeing the measurements... Tried looking for some cheap ones here but all too expensive so easier to build it....

Getting the joysticks and buttons on Monday , hook them up to the pc and get it all working then start on a cab.

Appreciate all the efforts.....

Awesome, exactly what I needed... in the mean time I measured up a "fat" low boy at an arcade store (still drawing it up though), but this helps heaps as considering which one I will use depending onsizes and space... Thanks for your help. Cheers
