Was talking to my dad's friend today and I remembered have this old sit down cocktail from about 15+ yrs ago.....well, low and behold he still has it and wants to sell it cause the coin mech isn't registering all the time :) . He wants 300 bucks for it. Heres the link http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=9799
I was considering picking it up for mame purposes....keep it completly intact and just throw some 4 ways in it ( only has 2 ways ) and getting a arcade vga card to work wit the monitor. Do u think I should pick it up, price seems reasonable....Or should I pick up and leave intact, I don't think this is really a sought after game...BTW.....It's called Stratovox

I would try to talk him down a little ( don't hurt to try)
I think I would buy it.

I'd buy it and keep it the way it is. What's the point in putting mame on something that works? Fix the coin issue and sell it if you don't want to keep it. If it's made it this far without being hacked, why do it now?

$300 seems pretty high for such a crappy game. Yes, it's a (mostly) working cocktail, but I imagine you'd be fairly hard pressed to get $300 back outta it if you decided to sell it unless there's some huge demand for this game that I don't know about.
No way I'd pay $300 for it.

Depends on how mint the game is, but $300 is pretty high. Stratovox is one of the first games with speech in it (if not THE first). It's a pretty lame game though. I remember playing it maybe twice when I first started frequenting arcades in '81.

That's too much for that game, really. If you just want to mame it, I have one for sale that should be pretty similar. It's already all fixed up, save yourself the trouble. ;)

Despite SpyStyle's advice..... keep in mind, many of us here are against taking a perfectly good working classic and MAMEing it...
:-D
