Title: how to wire GT trackball GND connections?
Post by: rchadd on September 17, 2004, 10:13:05 am
the golden tee trackball has two green wires that need to be connected to an earth point. think it is to disipate any static electricity from the rolling balls. i think it would normally be connected to an earth point on the chassis of the GT cab. but i am using the TB in a all wooden CP.

is it absolutely necessary to be connected to GND?

can i connect to GND connection on my optipac? or will it cause damage?

I connected mine to the bottom of the trackball plate.  No issues.

All grounds in a cab are connected to the same thing--ground.

It should be fine to connect it to any available ground, but if you're afraid it might damage something, just put a resistor in series to prevent voltage spikes.

Any low value will do (eg, 100 ohms)
