Finally tooks some pictures of the cocktail cab my brother and I made for his kids. It's based on the pacman plans by Kyle Lindstrom with a few tweaks here and there. Still need to add a few finiishing touches, but it's pretty much done.

Wow. That's nice work! Are you going to add any artwork?

Thanks!
Yeah, I think my brother wants to do a custom underlay. We also need to do some type of overlay for the control panels, but not exactly sure what yet? (Plexi glass, paint etc)

id suggest anything but paint as it will wear off quickly, especially where your hands rest...

BTW: what wood have you used? its kind of whiteish (i like it)
is it laminate?
-
Thanks!
We used MDF wood, with wood veneer over the top. We were going to use laminate, but then decided to go with the veneer.
BTW: Nice looking cab! Very clean looking!

Are the CPs removable? I noticed that you made them out of wood instead of metal like the original plans call for. I am thinking of building a cocktail and I would likely do what you did. I guess what I really want to know is was it a pain to wire the CPs?
-
Actually the control panels aren't removable, we just used the original cocktail plans for a guide and then kinda winged it here and there. The controls were really easy to wire.
Here's the system specs:
Dos advmame 62 with ArcadeOS
Hacked sidewinder joystick.
PII 266Mhz system
Monitor 21 inch computer monitor that I picked up at a surplus computer store for $60.
Controls:
2 Happs supers (1- 8way and 1-4way)
1 Wico 2/14 trackball with a hacked mouse
The system work excellent although it does take a few seconds extra to load the games since it's only 266mhz. But, since we running nothing but classics, it works well.
