Title: Joystick Recommendation
Post by: Bill Mote on September 16, 2004, 09:33:52 am
I'm not a big fighting game fan.  I will probably play as many 4-way as 8-way games.  My initial panel has to accomodate 8-way sticks, but if I have to many problems I'll add a 4-way stick later --> so, I'm not interested in one with a lever and I'll never open the panel to change anything from below.

Please post your reasons along with your vote.

Regards,

you really only have 2 choices then... The T-Stick Plus from ultimarc, or the Omnistick prodigy from GroovyGameGear.

You'll hear great things about both sticks around here, so it'll probably come down to personal preferences.

I don't necessarily want a switchable stick.  In fact, I'm really trying to decide between the ultimate and the competition as the perfect 360 is just out of my budget.

Why wouldn't you want a switchable stick?

Comps then.

Supers are better for timepilot, gyruss and any game that you 'swirl' around.

But comps are better for fighters and many others.

You have to decide if you want corners (ie, feel that your going back and down...)

btw, if you play 4way games, you WILL want a swappable one... or an original 4 way.  Otherwise you will get better results from your keyboard (really).

I would go (if I didn't have hotswappable control panels) a
TStick Plus  and a TStick... Since you probably wont be changing the player 2 to 4 way often.

What about restrictor plates?  I really wasn't interested in a switchable stick as it *sounds* unreliable and frustrating.

Not half as frustrating as trying to play pac man with a Super.

I don't have a switchable stick yet, but I'm going to get one. Probably a T stick plus, because I like how they look. Probably get the red ball top, too.

Since Oscar doesn't sell his restrictors anymore, I don't know of a source for any. Unless you have access to a machine shop, I guess.

Ultimarc's T-Stik Plus is anything BUT unreliable and frustrating.  Where would you get that idea?  Certainly not from the many glowing reviews of the stick here and elsewhere.
