Just wondering how many of you managed to hold on to some tokens from your favorite childhood arcade and what was the name of the arcade?
I grew up in Mundelein,IL. The arcade I grew up in was named "Fuse Box". Later it was bought out by Bally's and named "Bally's Great Escape". I managed to save two tokens from there.
You guys?

I have some Aladdin's Castle tokens laying around somewhere. I guess that's not all that spectacular, since Aladdin's Castles are still around...but I haven't seen one in nearly 15 years, so I was pretty excited when I stumbled across them. I'm sure that if I looked, I could dig up aome tokens from the Jersey shore arcades. Besides all the places in Wildwood (like Gateway 26), I remember that I used to go to a place down there called the Pac Trap (maybe in Avalon??), but they probably just used generic tokens so I wouldn't even recognize them if I had them.

Where are Aladdin's Castles still around?
I've got a decent size stockpile of AC & Bally generic tokens around. Been meaning to get a bunch more if I can run across someone selling them.

I managed to hang onto quite a few from various places that I went when I was a kid. My very favorite place was right across the street from the high school I attended, but they only took quarters.

I've got some "Putt-Putt golf and games" tokens in a box somewhere. That was THE arcade here in town.

my two local (within a bike ride) arcades we called Fun Spot and Egads. I don't have tokens from either. Isn't there some huge arcade up north called Fun Spot? Maybe someone could send me a token? I think Egads closed in 84 and Fun Spot in 85...both we around for 3-5 years.

Aladdin's Castle is owned by Namco now. They also own Time Out and something else, but I can't remember the name. You can use this locator to see if there is one near you....

I have a few tokens from some Jersey shore arcades. I think I have some from Bobby Dees in Wildwood among others. I also recently found an OOOOOLD Chuck E. Cheese token holder with belt clip. Man, I must have been so cool with that thing ;D

I'd just have to dig through my change pile and find late 70's - early 80's quarters. Only arcade here that had tokens was a Showbiz pizza, and since there were two real arcades close by I didn't play there much.

I still have some Aladdin's Castle tokens (up until around 99 they still had some in Minnesota). I used to have some tokens from Circus and Chuck E Cheese; still have some tokens from Machine Shed (lame arcade in Rochester, MN).
Out at my fathers place he used to have a big fish bowl where we had coins and what not (for the arcades) and I know there were tokens from Enchanted Village (Washington state), chuck e cheese, and a few weird arcades from around Seattle (One in Aurora Village, and Northgate). Strangley enough, he also has some weird slugs that I used to use at little ceasars and hogies corner (a sub place they used to have around seattle - always had awesome games like the Vs. Goonies).

No token arcades in New Zealand till the 90's I think, we used 20c pieces, lots and lots of 20c pieces.

i have one aladdins castle token that was laying at the bottom of my spyhunter cab. this spyhunter cab spent most of its life at a aladdins castle and it smells delicious. a mix of pizza and other things i cant describe but i love the smell. everytime i open the coin door i take a big whiff :D
i just checked ebay and some of the old rare chuck e cheese tokens go for a pretty high price. i like the look of the early eighties pizza time theatre tokens, the mouse looks cool compared to the current version.

I have a couple of old Fun 'n Games tokens, which was the old arcade in the local mall.

Just ran across an old "Space Port" token from my college days.

I "sorta" have some..
One of the last bastions of early arcade games for me - Magic Mountain in Adelaide - was torn down recently. I grabbed a few tokens before-hand.
They're not nearly as good as the BYOAC tokens.. and they're not the same as they were when I was a kid, because they used to have "magic mountain" on one side and "downtown" on the other, if memory serves. But downtown vanished years ago...
I've been meaning to photoshop a gravestone with the writing from Magic Mountain's tokens on it ... "Magic Moutain. 2004. No Cash Value".

Local arcade changed their name a few years back adn bought a bunch of new tokens. The old tokens didnt work in their machines anymore, adn they wouldnt accept them after a certain date for trade ins, si i got stuck with about $10 worth of bad tokens. I still have a few left after 10 years.
