I'm considering getting some wireless network going on up in here some time in the near future and would like some suggestions.
I've been looking at Lynksis' (sp) 802.11g with speedbooster because they claim it runs something like double normal 802.11g.
I'm not necessarily going to be buying this tommorow or anything, so if you know of some super duper up and comming technology that's going to blow this stuff out of the water, feel free to suggest it.

Well, Netgear has an 802.11t router out now, but I think you only get the 112mbit if you are less than 6 feet away from the WAP.
My suggestion is stick to 802.11g, and make sure the WAP and cards support WPA encryption.
Any particular reason you are thinking about wireless? I would only suggest it if you have a laptop or conditions where running cable isn't an option, otherwise stick to CAT5/6. More secure/reliable, and much cheaper.

From a historical perspective, anything I've found that claims to run 200% faster than the spec allows is doing something bad that breaks the protocol and doesn't work with half the software out there. 802.11g is 54 mbits, are you really going to be doing that much data transfer that you can't live with that speed limit?

yeah, stick with g, it's backword compatible with b too. So if you have a friend that has a laptop and wants to come over for some network gaming and has a b card....

Yeah, I have a Linksys 802.11g wireless router at home for my laptop. The nice thing is, it also has wired connections on it for my two home PCs that have no reason to be wireless.
