Title: Monitor is scrambled and shuts off
Post by: Shogun on September 09, 2004, 01:42:09 pm
I'm looking into buying this cab but the seller says the monitor when turned on is all scrambled and then turns off after a few minutes. I am not knowledgeable at all in this area but if it something such as a power supply issue or a simple repair then I may buy the cab and get the monitor fixed. Does anyone have any idea of what may be causing these symptoms?

Nobody has had anything even remotely similar happen?

The monitor in all likelihood needs a capkit.

Further description of the problem:

"It was scrabbled with lines of color and black. after a few seconds it goes to a single white line in the middle then off."

If it does need a cap kit is this a difficult problem to solve?

sounds like a vertical deflection failure--you may have to replace some IC's--not that difficult but does require some skill.

If it's a model MS8-26U then both resistor R433 (2.2k ohm 1/4 watt) and capacitor C433 (10 uf @ 50 volt) are bad.

If it's a model MS8-26A then C431 (33 uf @ 160 volt), C432 (33 uf @ 160 volt), and C433 (10 uf @ 50 volt) are bad.
