Title: Arcade Monitor has gone all white
Post by: SubZero on September 08, 2004, 10:00:01 pm
Ok.  Here's what I got:

Generic JAMMA full upright cabinet with streetfighter: the movie board in it.
Worked like a champ, sound, video, everything ok.

Now, I moved and the movers moved the cabinet for me.  I watched the entire time and it would seem that they didn't drop it or bump it on anything, etc...

When I fire up the cabinet, the monitor stays black for a second (warming up), then it goes to all white and stays there.  I still have sound and it is still playable, but you just can't see anything.

I also have a mame machine inside the cabinet (that also worked fine before the move).  Using a JPac to connect it to the harness.

When there is a video signal present, the screen is all white.  If I plug in the SF board, the screen is all white.  If I plug in the JPac, the screen is all white, if I leave the harness unplugged, the screen is all black.

Any Ideas on what could be causing this?

The monitor is a Wells-Gardner 25K7193 with a Phillips tube in it.

Thanks in Advance.

this may sound dumb but is it a clear white or does it look like a fog has settled onto your display?  if foggy (indistinct edges) you may have a heater to cathode short which happens when minute particles inside your tube get lodged between the heating element and the tube cathodes.

if its clear white with retrace lines it, it sounds flyback related or one of your adjustment pots has bit the dust--ken layton or monitor guru will probably have a much better idea than I do as to whats going on...

Well, it's not a clear white.  It looks like.. well, the screen is just all white. Horizontal and vertical adjustments still work, etc... it's just that the screen is all white.

Hope that answers your question  :)

Have you tried turning down the brightness/contrast and screen control?

Of course, first thing i tried.  Played with the remote board as well as the pots on the mainboard itself.  All to no avail as far as the whiteness is concerned.

THanks though
