Post by: Apollo on September 08, 2004, 05:56:54 am
Check the specs on this thing, still in dev at the moment but imagine the MAME possibilities, man I can't wait to get my hands on one.

I've been looking at these for about a year now... I can't wait.

but..

the speed is a 533 eden chip.  These are pretty good for some things, but not the best for emulation.  I'm guessing that it will end up being about the speed of a normal 400mhz board.

but thats still GREAT for a portable gaming.

btw, you can build your own right now for about the same price.  The lcds can be bought on ebay for about 100 bucks for cars.  And the boards are out there also.  So for same amount or a bit more, you can have the size... just not the packaging.

Anyone else notice how cumbersome that device looks? It doesn't fold.... It would be a pain to just throw in a briefcase, bookbag, etc.

Seeing as how it has 3D chipset, etc, it really seems designed to compete with the portable PS...

Yea, I stopped watching TechTV after G4 absorbed/ruined it.  Here's a section from their website on the feature:

Speaking of The Screen Savers... Anyone here LIKE the new direction of the show? That new host is an annoying goof. Kiss this show goodbye, it's gonna crash n burn.

???From what I remember Leo got into a contract dispute with Tech Tv before the merger and he opted out (good plan on his part).  The new host is a total loser......the only one worth a crud now is Yoshi and his mods......RayB is right it will crash and burn as should the whole G4/tech tv network.

Leo is up here in Toronto now taping new episodes of "Call for Help" with a new cast and set. This new show airs here on the Canadian G4TechTV channel.

The US G4TechTV will not air the new shows, but Leo is shopping it around to other channels.

Since we're off the topic already,

Anyone else catch, last nights X-play.  Normally I could take it or leave it, but last night they had some of the best spoofs of films I've seen from low budget tv.  The Resovoir Dogs spot even had the same bad acting ;-).  And I laugfed the whole way through the Kill Bill one.  All this for games that only got a 2/5.   Maybe the show will get better overall.
