I seem to have picked up a Trojan (Proxy.8.BR) which has infected my c:\windows\system32\eplrr0.dll . AVG Anti-Virus gave me the warning, but cannot clean/delete the file and I cannot delete the file manually (access denied). I tried safe mode but no difference...
Firstly has anyone heard of this Trojan? Even AVG's site doesn't seem to list it.
Second does anyone know what eplrr0.dll does (ie will it f@&k anything up if I delete it?) ?
Any help would be greatfully received...

No worries I seem to have fixed it...it seems I could rename & move the infected file, and then it would delete after reboot. I gather the dll is not a real Windows system file.

FWIW.....I did a complete search of SARC (Symantec AntiVirus Research Center) and came up with nothing. Are you sure there is no alcohol involved here?
:D

I googled the DLL and it has appeared in a few cases, but nothing came up for "Proxy.8.BR"....

Yeah I've heard that alcohol reduces your protection from viruses.

I did the same...wierd that nothing showed up (nearest I could find was Proxy.5.something).
Actually I just sat at my PC with a fresh beer hoping to squish a couple of MW bugs...when this happened (only had a couple of swigs), so alcohol was not to blame :D
