update - 3-7-05
OK, I sold my last large lot of brass tokens, from now on the brass MAME tokens will only be available in the 5 & 10 sampler packs, and even then for a limitied time as I won't be ordering more.
We did get in a second lot of Nickel so we will have those in stock for a while longer.
If you want brass MAME tokens this is your last chance to get them!!!!!!
Thanks all for your orders.

Update 2/26/04 -
Ok, it took a while, but I now have small quantities available.
-
It would be ausome if they fit in quarter mechs.
-
If they were even close to the BYOAC ones (which I'm sure they would be) then I would probably order 400 of the brass.
-
You would absolutely have to make them the same size and weight as the BYOAC tokens. That way those of us that setup our coin mechs to accept the BYOAC tokens will be able to use the new ones too.
That would be totally awesome bitchin' outragous tubeular narly dude! :-)

-
Thats the reason why I have this as my Coin Mech. i don't have to worry about coin/tokens size at all.
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=19200
-
I definitely would be interested:
1. As long as the design was good (I'm sure it would be).
2. As long as it would work with a coin mech bought in the UK.
-
Why dont ya get a bunch of new quarters? ......thats how ya used to play games at the arcade... WITH MONEY!!
-
Why dont ya get a bunch of new quarters? ......thats how ya used to play games at the arcade... WITH MONEY!!
Well, maybe it's because people don't want to be an ass when their friends come over and they charge them to play. Having a bucket of tokens nearby is a lot easier. And not all arcades were strictly quarter-only.
-
I'd prefer to wait for 2005, and make a half/mame half BYOAC coin. That way, more sales, since people will be losing tokens as time goes on, plus people coming/leaving the hobby. Heck, you could probably do a run every year!
I'm glad you mentioned mame though. I was kind of offended by people saying "Well some people don't use mame in their cab" last time. If it weren't for mame, we wouldn't be here. We'd be fighting over every classic and non classic cabinet. I would love to see the mame logo on a coin.
-
Why dont ya get a bunch of new quarters? ......thats how ya used to play games at the arcade... WITH MONEY!!
Actually, very few of the chain arcades took quarters. It was much more financially benificial for them to take tokens.
Sure the machines in your local Pizza Hut or gas station took quarters, but the vast majority of larger arcades converted to tokens very early on.
-
There ya go....
start on the 2005 design for the byoac/mame token :-) It's time to start designing for 2005 anyway ;-) Combine the both of them!
Mike B
-
What did you have in mind Santoro as a combo design?
>:( I am SOOOOOO!! Pissed I missed that last batch of nickel ones...!
-
As long as they're the same weight, I'm in. I was so mad to have missed out on the nickel BYOAC ones!
-
I might be interested. Although I think sticking to quarters is better as it helps me put change away for a rainy day. Might as well use the coin boxes for what it was meant for rather than a jar.
~Ray B.
-
It would be ausome if they fit in quarter mechs.
That would be ausome. Then we could put MAME tokens in any vending/gaming/stamp/carwash machine in the USA and get 25
-
It seemed the nickel ran out very quickly. My few inputs are to just go nickel, unless it's your choice (since you fronted the money for the project...thanks again, even though I didn't end up buying any) and to skip the "stippling". Looking at the original renderings (even though the "stippling" was represented) versus the final product, I think it would have looked even sharper lookng like the renderings - for a pretty good approximation of what I'm talking about, see one of the new quarters' back design.
Ultimately, the stippling was what turned me off the design, but I understand the need to assure mass appeal rather than appealing to only me :)
So there's my input!
Have I told you the nickel looked REALLY sharp? Excellent choice to make nickel too!
-
I have 100 nickel and I would love more. Will they be a little cheaper second time around if you use the same design.
-
These tokens make me so glad I chose Imonex mechs (#42-6901-00) (http://www.happcontrols.com/wp/item_search.html?item-no=42-6901-00) that can accept tokens and quarters. It is hard to believe that Happ wants double what I paid them just a few years ago for the mechs. As for the tokens, it really all comes down to the design...
-
forget the poll. People here want tokens. Therefore price and design are the factors. I think most will preffer a BYOAC theme to generic tokens. So if the cost stays low, or gets lower there shouldn't be a problem. I also think there are many of us ready to buy a lot.
-

I think the reason for the poll is to see what people actually want. It's only been around for less then a day so more people will eventually vote, and that way Santoro won't have to guess or assume what they want.
-
He's already got BYOAC tokens; why make more until those run out? Like it says in the first post, MAME themed tokens can be sold on more sites than just BYOAC.
I bought 200 brass last time, and was thinking I needed at least 200 more- I'd love for the next 200 to be MAME instead. I remember going to Chuck E. Rat's and looking for different tokens mixed in with the standard rat face ones- I'd like to have more than one design in my game room, too!
-
I don't know if this is off-topic, but I remember I had a collection of various token styles from arcades I frequented. Now, where the hell did I put them?!?
-
I meant forget the poll because I don't think they are accurate. I think that people will want them who didn't vote and vice versa. But obviously I'm in the minority or there wouldn't be a poll.
I guess I forgot about the brass, to me the tokens are gone because I like the nickel ones.
Mame tokens would be more versatile, but more expensive too. I would love more of the nickel BYOAC at a lower price, which can be done because it is a second run. Looks like that might not be possible though.
-

I'm with you on that. The nickels seem to stand out as just a bit better looking than the brass. Of course, if this doesn't take off cause of lack of interest or others who already got tokens the last time around, I'll probably wind up getting a bunch of the brass BYOAC.
-
I think it would be a shame to only have one year (2004) on the tokens. Plus, the more we flood the market, the more likely it is less people will buy them next year.
That being said, there is a definate interest. This thread is only 24 hours old, and it is already filling quickly.
Also, if we made Mame tokens, and advertised them (not for profit, simply so we can make sure all are sold), plenty of other Mame related sites would come here.
Waiting to hear more from Santoro!
-
I am in favor of a MAME token for 2005. Start the designs now!
-
I should point out that while the Nickel outsold the Brass BYOAC tokens, it wasn't by a huge margin. I still have more Brass because I got another few thousand from the mint as a 'settlement' for the fact that they omitted the dentils on the dies.
The nickel outsold the brass only by something like 20%.
The dies have been corrected and if we were to order any more tokens they would have dentils.
So far the response to this will not make a batch of MAME tokens worthwhile. 23 possible buyers is not a lot, especially when the minimum order for Nickel is 10,000 and some would only order 100.
:(

I'd probably order 200 - 300 if it were a Nickel only batch. Otherwise, I'd order half brass/half nickel.

Except you can eBay pure MAME tokens, where you couldn't really eBay BYOAC tokens.
One possible compromise is to use one of the generic reverse dies, or to re-use the reverse die that we created for the BYOAC token (the "Happy Guy" side), which has nothing BYOAC-specific. This will cut your die charges (and design/arguing time) in half.

Ditto Chris' comments about Ebay and back side, plus don't forget the potential orders from other MAME sites.

What the heck are Dentils anyway?
-
YES YES YES!
I bought 200 of the nickle tokens last time and they are spectacular! I'd love to have another 200 Mame tokens.

See this post (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=19172;start=msg155769#msg155769) - Dentils are the teeth-like markings around the edge.

I'd be interested in a 100 nickel. I wasn't too hot about the BYOAC theme (no offense!), but I would like a "Happy Guy"\Mame token...
-
I think the price is what made me decide to wait last time. I mean I have a ton of quarters that already do the job, so I didn't wanna go crazy spending lots trying to convert over to tokens. Plus the fact that I only come here once in a while, the BYOAC theme was a bit of a stretch. (Not that it was bad, I kinda liked it.)
This time around I'd have to see what the price is including shipping (with credit card fees) and the final design before I say I'll buy so as not to throw off what you expect to sell. Though I think I'd prefer brass myself. All the tokens I remember were brass, and the golden color would be a nice change from the silver of my quarter collection.

You know, you could always cash in the quarters to pay for the tokens... :)
I wasn't thrilled with the BYOAC design, but would be really interested in a MAME one...

mame Tokens, gimme gimme gimme! lol
-
Looks like there is probably enough interest to do it. Please keep voting though - this thread will help me gauge roughly how many I need to order later.
This isn' t going to be a community project like the last batch, but rather I am going work with Chris and Pixelhugger to design the MAME tokens. I am very confident the design will be just as awesome as the last.
And don't despair - there will hopefully still be 2005 BYOAC tokens if there is enough demand. We can run that as a community project (but with less polling - only on the major design choices, not the small stuff like stippling, dentils, etc. We should probably let the artists decide that stuff next time.)
-
I'm confident that you, Pixelhugger, and Chris will come up with another great design. I'll be ordering when the time comes.
-S
-
Sounds great - I'm certainly in for a batch, especially with the artists involved.
Kevin
-
If you go with the MAME design, you will definetly get more people from other MAME outlets to purchase, I say go for it!
-
To be really honest, I like BYOC a lot, and I thought the design of the BYOAC tokens were really great. But at the same time, I did not order any because they had a BYOAC theme. I was really hoping that the design would incorporate some type of MAME theme. Most of the folks even on thse boards have cabinets that are pretty heavily MAME themed, so it makes a lot of sense that MAME tokens would be better sellers than BYOAC ones if they are going to be themed with anything.
It would also be awesome if someone knew a place to build some interest for pinball-themed tokens too ;D perhaps in a different size/weight than the BYOAC/MAME tokens..
-

I love the idea of pinball tokens (of course, I have two pinball machines now set for token use!)
That said, I'd hope all these custom tokens would be the same .984 size as the BYOAC tokens (and by happy coincidence, Chuck E. Cheese tokens :) )
I think the MAME tokens should have a great potential market, especially with some "cross promotion" with a site such as MAMEworld.
Heck, I'm seriously pondering "RetroBlast" tokens, but I'd want the RetroBlast part to be a fairly small part of a bigger "RetroGaming" theme.
Kevin
-
Oh, and while I'd certainly love a MAME/Happy Guy combo, I'd also love to see what Chris and Pixelhugger can come up with next.
We've got some real talent involved, and I'm optimistic that good things are coming...
Kevin
-
I would love to see the MAME tokens stray from the YMCA/Atari guy. I was very close to not buying because I didn't get why he wasn't playing that wonderful game next to him. Either way I'm in and would love to hear another uptade from Santoro. Can we start a design thread yet?
-
Monkeybomb, read the last post from me - this isn't going to be a 'community project' like the last batch. Since it is going to be sold hopefully on other sites, I am doing this as a 'commercial venture,' and will work out arrangements for compensating the artists.
I have proposed some rough front design elements to Pixel, he actually liked it and is working on enhancing and vectorizing it. I have yet to get in touch with Chris to discuss the back but hope to in the next day or so. I have been super busy.
-
My main concern is the use of the "standard" MAME logo. I will probably only buy a set if they are the correct logo. Not that I have a say, I am just wondering at this point....
-

I think I know what you mean to avoid the problems of last time. But are you planning on making one design and saying "this is the one", or will there be a couple to choose from? Avoiding the 'community project' might only mean we won't vote on every little detail like last time, just one of a couple final designs.
-
I am working with the artists to come up with the design. I will probably privately solicit opinions from a small few folks as well, to ensure the design is appealing to others, but there will be no public selection process since this is not a BYOAC token.
Also, I do intend on using the traditional Mame logo for maximum recognition.
-
sorry about that, I thought I had kept up on this thread better.
Good Luck and I hope it is a success
-
No Problem, I do the same thing all the time ;)
-
I'm sure this is already known etc... but just to mention... take directly from the mame website ( http://www.mame.net/features.html ) Refering the the mame logo...
" ...The usage is free for non-commercial purposes (such as websites), for any commercial purpose (includes use in magazines), please ask a permission from the webmaster."
but I'm sure thats already known, and something worked out or permission granted... just an FYI just incase...
-
I followed the instructions, and emailed the webmaster there twice a few months ago and did not hear back. If anyone knows some other route I need to persue, I'd be glad to hear it.
{edit, I found another email address over on mame.net that might be able to help. I'll check it out.}
-
OK, I got the official OK from Santeri Saarimaa to use the logo. Thanks Pilot143 for the reminder to wrap up this loose end.
-
is this still going on? c'mon... can't we get a teaser or something? date... ? anything... just a taste... :)
-
*insert evil laugh here*
No, actually I just worked out financial arrangements with the artists. I also had proposed something in terms of a design but a quick run by a few folks got it shot down. That took over a week.
Chris and Pixelhugger are both in the conceptualizing stage now, and I know Pixel is really busy, so it could take a few weeks to have the design nailed.
-
OK. This thread has been stickied and not updated for like a week. The suspense is killing me!!!! We need like, weekly updates so my head stays in one piece....
-
This isn't an intentional tease, I promise. It is just that Chris and Pixelhugger are very busy. (Note the lack of updates on Mission Control project.) I am not paying these guys so much that I can insist that they put thier private lives on hold. :-)
Let me reset the expectations here so as to avoid further angst:
I expect that the design will be finalized by month's end and Tokens will be ready by mid-November. If we are very lucky we might see blinged almost-done artwork in a few weeks.
Be patient, I am sure the result will be well worth the wait.
Thanks
Dave
-
I'll be in for a set of 100 of each.
-
Preliminary bling action here. Pixelhugger is going to do some refining of the cab edges and rings still.
{edit:reduced size to speed loading of thread.}
-
Very nice!
Kevin
-
I think the cab should be out of the "word circle". ;)
-
I think the cab should be out of the "word circle". ;)
Actually, that was one of the parts I liked the most. (Good thing David's not putting things up for a vote this time - I can imagine all the arguments ;) )
Kevin
-
Guess it's almost time for another 400 tokens. Like it's already been said, very nice looking.
-
Nice, assuming that is the obverse of the token, what will be the reverse? I'd cast my vote for the save reverse of the byoac token, with the happy player1 :-)
Mike B
oh yah, put me down for at least a 50/50 split of them too ;-)
-
Note the lack of updates on Mission Control project.
Man! You can say that again. :'( I'm glad someone's noticed ;)
Good thing David's not putting things up for a vote this time
Definitely. If this is to be turned around before next spring that's essential. :P Though it did make for an exciting thread last go round. And I'm really looking forward to following the 2005 token thread insanity.
JustMichael- Yeah, I looked at it every which way- in the circle, out of the circle, barely touching the circle, in the circle but not over type, back and forth and back and forth. For me the bottom line is that the forced perspective and dimensionality lose a lot without the overlap.
-
And with the aforementioned changes:
-
Once again you strike again PH. Awesome work as usual. :)
Once this is lined out...... :: cracks whip :: The Rocket Sprocket insanity should begin. ;)
-
SAME PIC ON BOTH SIDES?
-
No sir. Chris is working on the other side. I will post as soon as I have anything from him.
-
I'm definitely down for 200 of each...and possibly 4/4.
great work guys...can't wait to see the other side. :D
-
Dude, I'm in, too. Thanks, Santoro and PH... you guys rock.
-
very nice....
you should put GAME NOT OVER on the monitor. But if not I still like it...
put me in for 100/100 combo

Yep, as part of the deal for getting permission to use the logo, I offered to put the URL to mame.net on the token. It will be on Chris' side.
-
Looks very nice.

Great Job, guys!
The BYOAC token were fantastic and these are even better. I can't wait to see the back. I'm in for 200/200.

-
No sir. Chris is working on the other side. I will post as soon as I have anything from him.
And I'm going to have a hard time following that act. :o My initial ideas don't really work with that style.
Happy Guy may make a return engagement, though. Ooh... how about a simulated screenshot from a fighting game with Happy Guy vs. Bathroom Guy? ;D
-
you should put GAME NOT OVER on the monitor. But if not I still like it...
I had thought the very same thing. I objected to GAME NOT OVER for the BYOAC token, but in this context, being on the screen, it makes perfect sense....
-
I'll probably be in the minority, but I think it looks great without GAME NOT OVER. To me, words on the screen would make it seem like there is too much going on on that side of the token. Right now there is just the right amount of design without being overkill.
Besides, things that don't appear on this token could always be used on the 2005 BYOAC.
-
Right now there is just the right amount of design without being overkill.
Just tried it and you are right. It takes the *almost* icon / logo-like feel of the cab away. It's a bit too busy for my taste. If Santoro would like I'll post the result, but it's his show, I don't want to open up any cans o' worms.
-

I may work it into the back...
-
Wow guys,
I'm gonna have more tokens then I know what to do with...but who's complaining :)
-
I know we are not suppose to comment on design, but...
1. I think the it should be 1 player, and centered controls.
2. Maybe the CP should stick out a little bit over the bottom row of words. Not as much as the marquee, but a little, it would be a cool 3D effect.
3. I'd like to see the GNO on the screen, just to see the two options.
Again, if you are not taking ideas, cool, it looks great anyway, just some thoughts. X
-
SAME PIC ON BOTH SIDES?
I looked at the two different colors and thought it was just an example of the front in Nickel and Brass, but after reading Hoagie's post, I though of something maybe cool.....brass front/nickel back.....although I know it wouldn't be done, I kinda like the idea!
-

I have to disagree about the 1 player centered controls. If this was for Pac-Man or Q-bert or a game that had a centered joystick that'd be cool, but I think 90%+ of the people with a MAME cab don't have just one joystick.
And looking at the picture again, I think that the bottom of the CP could stick out only to the line and wouldn't even touch the words, so it probably wouldn't have as great an effect as the marquee does. The way it is now it has a nice in-and-out effect.
-
Nice. I think it could use a few less rings in the center to make it seem just a little less busy though.
I guess there's gonna be 2 new designs then (front/back). It'll probably cost as much as last time, right?
-
Looks Great!
I've been meaning to convert the "arcade" to tokens, and now is as good a time as any...
I'd be down for at least 100 of each color, probably even 200 of each.
-
It'll probably cost as much as last time, right?
I haven't finalized pricing yet, but there is a good chance that the pricing will be the same at the BYOAC tokens, with the addition of 500 lots at a further discount. Maybe even 1000 lots, though I doubt I would sell many of those.
Shipping within the US will be cheaper though for 200 lots - probably around $4.
-
where are the proceeds of these sales going....just curious. Is this a private endevor or for the community?
-
This is strictly a private endeavor. If it helps promote Mame and the community, that is certainly a plus, and that is one of the reasons I offered to put the Mame.net URL on the tokens.
-
thats cool, just wondered.

Gotta be either that or a frankenpanel... :)

How about something we can all really relate to in this hobby...
a guy screaming and cursing at an arcade game for not working right even though we've fixed everything twice! :-)
-
someone desperately trying to get the monitor's vhold to hold
-
or a guy holding a peice of wood that he cut and doesn't fit where it was supposed to go and he knows he measured it twice.... ;D
-
Or the classic guy who just dremeled off his pinkie...
-
or the guy who cut his saw horses in half while cutting his ply-wood :o
-
....or a guy using his XARCADE !!!!!
;) :P

Here is a preliminary version of Chris' side.

Yea, they said that originally, but I think that was really only if we didn't provide Vector art. Let's try lower case and see if they push back. If they do it is easy to reverse.

It's not a "preciosism" ... I just think it looks nicer ... that's all ... belive that even "mame.net" should be enought, but I like it anyway .. I'm far from being critical ... :) ... Its a great work you've made there ...
-
It's not a "preciosism" ...
???
I like to thik I have a decent vocabulary, but that one's gonna send me to http://m-w.com...
-
Wow... Merriam-Webster doesn't have it, and only three hits in all of Google. You have yourself one seriously obscure word there... gotta save that one for Scrabble ;D
-
;D
Sorry .. It's commonly used around this parts (portuguese) ... that's why I used the comma ... didn't know if the word exist in english ... :D
Anyway ... I think you understand the meanning I wanted to express ... :)
-
Well actually it can be used ... thats the use for the "ism" sufix ... but it was mispelled ... :D

First: Domain names are case insensitive, therefore WWW.MAME.NET is just as valid as www.mame.net. so you should use whichever looks the best.
Second: These are gonna be awesome, I cannot wait to get my hands on them!
-
I just want to comment on how complementary the two sides are. Having two artists go at it doesn't always work out this great. I really can't wait for a release of these.
-
these tokens look great if we go with the front and back "concept" artwork. you guys do astounding work. i'd keep the url in caps myself, since everything else is caps. i'm up for buying 200 tokens if we go with this design. so what is the estimated release date? and is everyone ok with the present design? (you should be, they're awesome)
-
I reset the Poll, please re-vote now that you have seen the preliminary artwork. I need to get a flavor for how many to order. They would probably be ready in the second week of Nov.
Thanks.
-
I don't think it reset properly... I can't vote again.
-
I don't think it reset properly... I can't vote again.
Ditto that
-
Yeah, I found that too. I will open a new poll in Buy/sell/trade - that is probably the best place for it anyway.

I like it...just one question/suggestion.....
What about putting a year on it?
starting this design as the 2005 edition
-
I like it...just one question/suggestion.....
What about putting a year on it?
starting this design as the 2005 edition
These aren't meant to be an annual series like the BYOAC tokens, so I'm sure he doesn't want to pay for a new die every year...
-
oops didn't think about the die charge....
-
I still think a year should be included. I didn't know that the BYOAC tokens are supposed to be yearly, but I just think a coin should have a year. My question is does it have to have "no cash value" on it?
-
My question is does it have to have "no cash value" on it?
Good point, seems like its there just to fill space, its not as if you can mistake it for real money.
-
that just makes it feel like a traditional token to me. All tokens should have than IMO
-
Yeah, that is why I asked for it to be on there. Any 'real' token has it.
-
I changed my mind about the new poll, I am going to start taking pre-orders at the end of next week, which will give me an idea of how many tokens to order.
That will also give me some time to re-work the website to accept the preorders and post some pointers at other forums and Usenet.
-

Leave some room for eBay... I'll bet you sell a bunch there!
-
I will - I only expect about 1/2 of the total volume to come from here.
-
whats the pricing, or did i just miss it?
-
Pricing will be very close to the BYOAC token pricing. I might up the price tiny bit and use my Paypal merchant account for everythng. Maintaining the two pricing structures was a pain. The paypal merchant account has a cart feature that will make it a lot easier to offer the different combinations of tokens.
None of that is in stone yet though. I am still doing the math.
See my sig for the BYOAC token details.
-
PLEASE Save me 100 of each.
-
Put me down for 200 of each. I dont care how much the postage is to get here in Australia. You guys RULE!!!
MAME FOREVER
-
When the new ones are ready I'll take 100 of each... ;D
-
Santoro,
Could you put the latest blingified pics in the first post? It took me nearly 2 precious minutes of my life to scroll through the 4 pages of this thread :)
These look great!
-
I know most of you guys build your own cabs, but I'm not talented in thoes ways.....does anyone know if these tokens will fit the mechs that will come in my slikstik cab. I'm pretty sure it's happs mechs for the quarter size but I don't hace my cab yet and I'm pretty sure these tokens will sell out quick so I'd like to order early before the nickle ones are gone.......however I don't want to also have to spend an extra $50 - $75 to change out my mechs.
Anyone know about the slikstik mechs.
-
Hi Santoro,
Just wondering if you're taking pre-orders yet?
Cheers.
-
Anyone know about the slikstik mechs.
The SlikStik coin door is a standard Happ door with .25 coin mechs. You'd need to order .984 token mechs from Happs (they sell them for about $13 each, and you'll need two.)
It's a cinch to swap out the mechs, btw.
Kevin
-
They might have just up'ed the price cause they're $20 bucks now. The tokens are for me, I wan't to still be able to have my guest put in real money.doesn't look like I'll be able to do both. Thanx for the info.
-
happs also has a mech that accepts both
or there are hacks you can do to your existing mechs to make them accept tokens...do a search for it here
-
Here's the URL for the $14.10 (not $13) mechs:
http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/42311300.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/42311300.htm)
Like whammoed mentioned, you can also hack a .25 mech to accept both (actually, it will then accept almost any coin). Do a search on the forums here - someone posted instructions a while back.
Kevin
-
Yeah, I'm sorry, I found this a little while ago. The 'HOW-TO'
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=19200
and I'm not sure what the differences on the 2 mechs are but I like the price you found better. Wierd, they're both in the happs site, maybe one has better parts. this is the $20 (size .984).
http://www.happcontrols.com/wp/item_search.html?item-no=42-3053-00
Either way I think I'll just try the mod. Thanx guys, once again I'm back in the race for tokens.
BY THE WAY....Kevin, thanks for the help with the other stuff over the last couple of weeks. I spoke to Chris this morning and ordered the cabinet with my custom SS Classic with the altered layout you helped me with. I also ordered that new MAME set from ArcadeLover. He said they would ship today. Thanx
-
That link didn't work.....maybe this (also I think this one is all metal parts....
http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/42303900.htm (http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/42303900.htm)
-
I just tried clicking on the link I posted - it works fine for me. It's the $14 black plastic coin mech.
The metal will work as well, just more expensive. If you're looking to just mod your existing mechs, there's no need to buy anything.
Kevin
-
No, not your link 'wasn't working', MY link wasn't working.....I corrected my link and reposted with the first mech that I found which had the higher price. I was showing you the 'wrong' one....yours was fine.
-
Put me down for 200-400 tokens depending on the final price.
Darryl

Any updates?
-
I am waiting one last minor change on the back, then the order should go in in the next day or two. Two weeks from then will be token time -Woohoo!
I will work on the new website this week to accept orders. Work has been busier than usual, I wanted to have that done by now. I registered Arcadetokens.com (http://www.arcadetokens.com) - I will be using that site as my base for these tokens.
-
OK, the order was placed. :D
Best case, 2 weeks until they are ready, worst case is 3 weeks. I will try really hard to have the ordering site functional by this weekend.
Thanks to all for your patience, the three of us have been very busy. :P
-
Oh, I'm getting excited. ;D
-
Could you please post the final design ?
Thanks,
-
OK, I updated the first post with the latest blinged cab side. I don't have new bling yet for the other side, but it is only slightly different:
-The dots are a hair farther from the circle
-The 'octagon shaped' larger dots are now round
-There is a single star on either side of the URL and 'no cash value.'
-
Ok, I'm new and missed out on the last ones...but will definitely want to buy some of the new batch. Thanks to all of you who have put so much time and effort into this. You guys rock!!
-
They look awesome so far! Just hope I can scrounge up some money this time 'round for some great custom tokens.
-
I was debating with myself about having coin slots or coin buttons on my cab. I've now ordered a coin door for it. ;D
My order will be in on day one! Great work!

Can anyone post pics of what stacks of x amount of these coins look like?
Anyway how long is this going to last? (when's the last I can order)
-
There is an image comparnig 100 to 200 posted here but for some reason I can't see it it after the weekend forum upgrade.
It is here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=19225.0;id=5037
When I click it I get :
An Error Has Occurred!
It seems that you are not allowed to download or view attachments on this board.
Can anyone else see the picture?

Nope.

I just sent a note to 'transition@arcadecontrols.com' reporting the issue.

100 really isn't a lot of tokens, sort of a handful.
-
I'll probably order 200 but when's probably the last I can order these?
-
I am not involved in the production of the tokens and I am just guessing but I think you have to order them before they sell out.
-
I will probably have them in stock for a while, expecially the Brass because I can order smaller quantities.
If you want Nickel I wouldn't wait too long. I have to order those 10000 at a time
-
No I want brass but I'll probably have to wait til after christmas
maybe you can take a down payment lol
-
Update:
I should be getting the Lead Proofs on Tuesday. Assuming they look good, I should have the brass tokens in my possesion a week after that, and the nickel a week after the brass arrive. As we did the last time, we will ship the brass-only orders first because of the way the timing of all this works.
Dave
-
Will you be sending out any kind of confirmation emails to people who have sent in payments? I know that the tokens won't be shipped for a while still, but it'd be nice (at least to assure my paranoid side) to know that you got the payment ok. :)
-
Yeah that's a good idea. I was toying with the idea of an auto responder, but I should send a manual e-mail so that people don't think thier money went into a black hole.
BTW I did get your payment. :)
Thanks for the suggestion.
Dave

Thank YOU for making the tokens.... you sure you can't threaten lives or something to get them done faster?? :P
Thanks for letting me know you got my payment too, I just figured most people would like to hear it got to you since we won't see the tokens for at least a few weeks.
-
Any news ? ;D
-
Check out the ordering thread in Buy-sell-trade (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,27411.msg238463.html#msg238463), I posted an update.
-
Thanks ... and sorry ... forgot you update the other post instead ... :D

I just wanted to say I finally got around to ordering the MAME tokens, and they are awesome. I only ordered brass BYOAC tokens because I just was used to tokens being brass (probably also because the nickel were gone by the time I ordered), well if I had forseen how nice the nickel would look and feel I certainly would have ordered then as well.
nice job.
On a side note does anyone know were to get hard plastic quarter rolls that will fit these tokens, I had found some once but they were too small (they may have been for some other coin). I would like a nice neat way to store them.
-

These tokens are slightly larger than quarter size. Look for quarter rolls meant for 25mm coins. (No, I haven't found any yet either.)
What about coin tubes for the Sacagawea dollar? Something like this?
http://www.brent-krueger.com/tubes.html
It says they are 26mm.
-
Hey, those are nice. Good find.
-
Ok, it took a while, but I now have small quantities available. On the website (http://www.arcadetokens.com), there are 5 nickel, 5 brass, and 5/5 packs for 3.50, 3.50, and 6.50 respectively, plus a dollar or so shipping.
Hopefully few more cash-strapped folks can share in the fun. Sorry this is US-only, The extra effort for small overseas shipments will not be worthwhile at a reasonable cost.
Thanks
Dave
-
Hey Santoro, received my tokens. Awesome! They will find a nice home in my new cabinet.
-
OK, I sold my last large lot of brass tokens, from now on the brass MAME tokens will only be available in the 5 & 10 sampler packs, and even then for a limitied time as I won't be ordering more.
We did get in a second lot of Nickel so we will have those in stock for a while longer.
If you want brass MAME tokens this is your last chance to get them!!!!!!
Thanks all for your orders.
Dave
-
Ok, you win, I just placed my order for 100 nickel and 10 brass. Looking forward to receiving them!
-
Just a bump for the thread, still some brass samplers left.
-
Sold Out!!!! No more mame tokens left. Thanks all for your orders!!!!
Dave
