Anyone knows where I can get a sheet of lexan/plexi glass/acrylic or whatever you call it for a cabinet I'm making in Melbourne Australia? Do glass shops sell it or is there a hardware store that sells a range?

Hey WonderBoy!
Good to see some more Melbourne interest. I thought I was the only one!. Where you live??? I just got my glass cut from Glory Glass in Footscray. Didi a great job, and it only cost me $50 for the bezel glass and the marquee glass. They even cut it while you wait. I found most places charged over $100 just for the bezel peice so they would be worth a look. Let me know if you need any other help, be glad to lend a hand. Cheers.

Was it glass or plastic that you got cut. I only want plastic type glass because normal glass cracks and it's a pain.
I live in Greensborough area.

Well my glass was just plain glass. You can get laminated glass which stops it from shattering, but as the guy at Glory Glass said, You would need a heap of pressure to crack an 8mm piece of glass. It all depends on the thickness you need, but i would not be to worried about it breaking. I dont think they do laminex. One major reason I choose glass was because its easy to clean. With perspects, you have to be careful with what you clean it with, or else you will completely wreck it. plus glass is hard to scratch and didnt cost me much at all. Hope this helps.

I had a piece of glass cut for about $20 from a contact which I don't want to ask again because he did it dirt cheap.
It was 1/4" laminated plain glass which two pieces were sandwiched together. I made the mistake of having holes cut for bolts and ended up cracking the glass because I didn't use proper bolts with rubber washers.
Now I need to get another sheet cut without holes and use clips instead. The sheet I need is approx 1300x800mm.
What size was yours that was cut?
