I need an isolation xformer for my nintendo monitor.
From what I've heard, it needs to step down the voltage to 100v as well as isolate it.
Where would I get one of theese?
I can only find regular 1:1 isolators.

I think you should be able to use a japanese power converter(the type people use for traveling). they are basically just a transformer in a case. Radioshack probably sells em but i dunno. Also, dunno what your wattage, amperage requirements are so be careful you don't get one that will burn up as soon as you put a load on it

You need a 1.1:1 ISO transformer. Ask on RGVAC for one, someone can likely hook you up.

I tried searching, but I can't find "RGVAC".
Could you give me a link?

You can buy one from tonadoterrys.com He stocks them adn sells on eBay all the time. I picked one up from him over the weekend. He's local to me and is pretty good to deal with.

Try http://www.belfuse.com/SignalTransformer/TechLibPage.asp?pRecno=11

You need a DP-241-8-120. There are 3 terminals on the top, and two on the bottom. Your 120V will go on either end of the top inputs (leave the center tap unused), then the bottom 2 terminals go to your monitor. It will give toy 105V.

I bought a 1.1:1 transformer from a store, but it turns out it's an auto transformer.
This means it will not isolate at all.
Can I use this along with a regular 1:1 iso?
Or should I just get a 1.1:1 iso?
Shipping is so expensive...

If you use a regular 1:1 you'll blow your monitor! Would you like to pump an additional 20 volts thru an application designed to run less?
RGVAC is rec.games.video.arcade.collecting (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.games.video.arcade.collecting). You can access it thru http://groups.google.com, or with a newsgroup reader such as XNews (http://xnews.newsguy.com).

If you are talking about pluging your 1.1:1 automotive tranformer into a 1:1 isolation transformer, then to your monitor, yes that will work. An isolation transformer is basically the same as a regular power converter type transformer. The difference is, most isolation tranformers are 1:1, and they usually have some sort of shielding between their coils. Technically though, all transformers isolate the power. connect the output terminals of one tranformer to the inputs of the other and you will serve your goals.
