Title: cutting cocktail monitor hole and mounting position
Post by: rchadd on September 03, 2004, 05:58:13 am
i am now ready to cut the monitor hole in my custom cocktail table's top. but how big should it be relative to the monitor's size?  how about 1" larger than monitor all around?

also any advice on how close to the glass top that the monitor should be placed? i would like to mount the monitor as high as possible in the cab (to give plenty of room for coin door/mech and motherboard mounting). would 1/2" from the glass be too close? the closer the better i assume - is this correct?

What kind of monitor are u using?  I cut mine very close...maybe 1/8" gap so 1/4" larger.  This allows plenty of space for mounting brackets and screws.  I get as close to the glass as my monitor bezel will allow.  With my u3100 it was almost touching the glass.  With my d9200 it is about 1/4" away from the glass.

its a 21" hantarex video monitor

i will have to make a custom bezel so it can be as close as i like to the top glass

I would plan on 1/8" to 1/4".  I know this looks good.  Remember, the monitor is curved so the closer to the glass the easier it is to see the edge in front of you.  1/2" would probably be fine too but I would think closer is better.
