Title: Items now on eBay
Post by: Raven.. on September 03, 2004, 02:13:43 am
Well, I finally got around to listing my stuff on eBay.  If anyone is interested in a really big monitor for their MAME project, here it is!

As long as you can figure out how to run an RGB signal using BNC connectors.  Anyone with a podium game out there?

Hmmmm.....

I'm in DFW area and this might make interesting project....not sure on the RGB,BNC video scenario.

Is it a single BNC cable connection to the monitor?

I'd certainly be interested if I can find the room... I'll see what my brother's got to say about it (I have more stuff in his house than he does).

I'm in the DFW area as well and I too am a bit curious about the connections. Please elaborate!

a friend of mine has a vcr that uses bnc connectors for video input/ouput.  it turned out to be just analog video..  i soldered a rca jack onto a cable with a bnc connector and it worked fine.  i dont know the specs for that monitor, but i would imagine it would be very simple to test..

Sorry guys, I haven't been online today.  The connction is 4 separate BNC connectors, red, green, blue, sync.  I don't know how to connect to them, so I can't test this thing.  It looks great though...very clean.  The art is all intact too.  Someone buy this big bastard! :)

I will also consider trades....I need a couple of empty cabs with monitors for MAME projects.

I am in Houston this weekend, but pm me if you think you got something.

Hey folks.

Unless I'm missing something I think you are making this way more dificult then it has to be.  Take this with a grain of salt because I'm no expert, I have more expeirence with video prod monintors then arcade ones (and please if I state something that is absolutly wrong, correct me).

BNC's are just connectors, the inside pin will be the red/blue/green/sync and the outside edge will be a ground, sound familiar.  The video coming off of your JAMMA card is also broken into these, except you usually only have 1 ground.  So to hook this up you could either open up the monitor case and solder some cables directly where the connectors are (not exactly a fun thing to do) or make a set of BNC breakout cables and wire these directly to the wires in your JAMMA harness (not too dificult a thing to do, but remember to send all of them ground).  Take a look around at electronics stores either brick and morter, or online and I'm sure you will fine the conectors you need.  The other advantage of making the cable, is it's easy to disconnect, and yet is a very solid conection that won't just pull out.

The only part you may have to do some exprimenting on, is what the sync actually is; horizontal, vertical, combined and wether it's positve or negative, and that's the part I'm clueless on.  But you may get lucky and have it set up to match your card right away.

Best of luck,

John
