Title: Xarcade KVM?
Post by: matt.e on September 02, 2004, 02:49:29 pm
Hi,
Does anyone know if i could use an old KVM switch to switch between my DreamCast and MAME PC (using the serial mouse port on a KVM for the Xarcade)?

My DC runs through my monitor anyway so it would be great if they would both work with a KVM (and it would make a very nice mame/DC cab project in the future).

thanks if you can help,

i looked at this type of setup and xarcade requires a full power down when switching systems...   i.e. swtiching a kvm would not work unless u pefectly stop for 2 seconds in the middle of the switch (power down)

you can't have a temp switch with out anything hooked up (rep from xarcade told me this)

i didn't ask if the temp position was in the middle... saying you have switch A  /   B    / C

dreamcast =  A
nothing = B
PC/Mame = C

hmm...that could work now that i'm thinking about it.. my other example to xarcade was at the end (last connection)  I would shot an email over to them, they will answer your questions for you..

responce from Xgaming:

A serial switchbox, yes. But you have to have an empty spot between the 2 devices. For instance have PS2 on channel A, and XBOX on channel C. Nothing on B.

thanks for your help. i'm gona give it a try...
