Using ArcadeOS and AdvMame, when I run a game (or try) I get an error about
"unknown option '-monitor' and the game never starts. This appears to be
this option in ArcadeOS.cfg;
#Options passed to MAME for NTSC/Arcade monitor mode
arcmodeopt=-monitor arcade
I think it is sent because I have this option set to one;
#Selects video output type:
#0 = Standard VGA Output
#1 = Arcade Monitor / NTSC Output
#2 = PAL TV Output
#DO NOT SET TO 0 IF YOUR PC IS CONNECTED TO AN ARCADE MONITOR/TV
incabinet=1
I have to do so since I am running an arcade monitor
Does anyone know how to supress the '-monitor arcade' option from being
passed to advmame? I tried commenting the line in the config as well as
deleting it, but it appears ArcadeOS recreates it each time.
Thanks, James

Comment out the first statement. I believe it's different for AdvMAME (why they couldn't use the stock stuf, I dunno). Don't know what the option is, but it should be in the docs.

Im assuming you already ran the advcfg and advv programs to set up the monitor? I believe I was getting the same problem before I did that.
Hope that helps.

Tried commenting it out, it just recreates it everytime I run ArcadeOS...

I don't think I ran advv, I will try that

advmame is the one giving that error. There is no Advmame gamename -monitor arcade
That will not work.

I figured that, the key is how to tell ArcadeOS NOT to send the option.

try ot fake it.
Instead of you putting
-monitor arcade
put
-startuptime 5
Maybe that will work if ArcadeOS don't know the difference.

Or you could ditch AdvMAME and go with regular DOS Mame.

Already been there, I could not get the video control I needed. Advmame has resolved those issues. I may go to advmenu.
