Title: Minipac Shift Func (Another Newbie Question)
Post by: newmamer on August 29, 2004, 06:42:06 pm
I have a Minipac board and can't seem to get the shift functionality to work in ROM mode or in ALT mode.  Have tried setting a different button for the shift key bout no effect - also it won't show me using the shifted functions in the programming utility.. anyone have any thoughts.

You ARE using the winipac programming utility, not the WiniPAC IPD one, correct, the minipac only works with the older software. . .

This one - http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac.html, not this one - http://www.ultimarc.com/winipac_ipd.html

Does it work at all - i.e. set to ROM mode - Press P1 Start and P2 Start, does it send ESC???

Thanks for replying.  Yes, I have tried it in ROM mode, and still no result .. I have also tried manually connecting the wires going into P1 start switch (supposed to act as "shift" and pressing other buttons, but no luck there either.  Am using the USB cord, is this okay?  Just a thought, I'm kind of stuck here..

Should be. . .  Might not hurt to try in in PS/2 and/or on a different computer, just to eliminate possible causes.

shift is ignored when any other input is active - make sure you don't have a shorted / incorrectly connected input...

Found the problem - thanks to Iz for the solution.  My fault for not being careful enough with my wiring ... anyway; thanks to byoac forum for another good solution!
