Anyone using one of those automatic wire strippers that you can get at Radio Shack and the like? The work OK? Do what they're supposed to? Worth the $15 or so?
-
Some are decidedly better than others. I've got a pair that I've had for years. Words of advice: don't lube them with WD-40. Gummed it up for years afterwards, before I found out about 3-in-1 oil.

check around. I found mine at a dollar store.
$1.00 I thought what the heck and tried it.
I liked it so much I went and bought the store out of them ;D

Wouldn't wire without 'em. got mine for $1 also at Dollar Tree or Deal$. ARCADIAC!

I tend to use manual strippers most often and save the automatic type for rush jobs/non critical applications. Though the automatic strippers are faster and more efficient, I can do better by hand. Concidering where my wiring harnesses end up, it's worth the extra effort.

I personally think a very good pair of manuals are MUCH better then cheap automatic ones. And a very good pair are only about 10 bucks (I think I got mine for 8 on sale from 15). And their great.

I agree. Don't leave home without one.

I love my automatic strippers, I use them when I do electrical work around the house to.....

Yeah, the automatic ones are cool.
